Texan Soccer continues five-game homestand with Texas A&M-Corpus Christi matchup

STEPHENVILLE, Texas - Tarleton State continues their five-game homestand this Thursday with their Purple Rally game against Texas A&M - Corpus Christi at the Tarleton State Soccer Complex. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. and fans in attendance will receive purple rally towels while supplies last.

Thursday's game will be streamed on WAC International, with stats provided by StatBroadcast. Follow @tarletonsoccer on Instagram, X and Facebook for live updates, highlights and content.

The Texans started off their five-game homestead with a win Sunday afternoon, beating Incarnate Word 4-1. Jaycie Bass scored two goals for the Texans with assists from Stevie Reynolds and Sammy Schulze. Reynolds and Schulze also scored goals for TSU.

Tarleton State took 13 shots compared to Incarnate Word's 10 shots, with eight of them shot on goal, and goalkeepers Emma Barnes and Mikayla Kendall recorded a combined three saves for the Texans.

Senior midfielder Jaycie Bass was recently named the WAC Offensive Player of the Week for week three. Bass is now the second player in just three weeks to receive a weekly honor for the Texans, her first in her four-year career. She notched a pair of goals and an assist to record five total points in the first six games of the season. The senior has started the last four games for Tarleton State, recording a total of 238 minutes played this season. She is the fourth person to score multiple goals in a game in program history, as it has only been done a total of six times. Reynolds accounts for three of those, two occurring earlier this season.

Reynolds has been a key asset for the Texans so far in the 2025 season. The senior is ranked inside the top ten nationally in three offensive statistical categories: T-6th in total goals (6), T-9th in total points (13), and T-10th in goals per game (1.00). She was one of only 10 players in the country to have scored six or more goals in the 2025 season as of Sept. 3 and currently leads the WAC conference in seven different statistical categories. Reynolds was named the WAC Offensive Player of the Week for week one. During their game against Texas Southern, Reynolds set the new single game shot record with seven shots and tied the single game shot on goal record of five shots on goal. She was the only player in the WAC to score multiple goals in one game through week one and was one of 35 athletes to score at least three goals in the first week. The forward is now tied for first in program history for total goals scored in her Tarleton State career.

Emma Barnes has been a defensive standout for Tarleton State this season. In her third straight starting appearance, Barnes set a new personal record during her Tarleton State career with nine saves and 18 shots faced against UTEP. The goalkeeper has appeared in five of the six games for the Texans, recording 15 saves and allowing only two goals. Prior to this season, Barnes had only started one match, occurring as a freshman back in September of 2023.

Tarleton State Women's Soccer was recently ranked eighth in the Pacific Region by the United Soccer Coaches. The Texans are currently leading the WAC conference in ten different statistical categories and have earned three shutouts in just six games this season.

Head coach Pete Cuadrado is in his 22nd season as a collegiate head coach and his fourth season with Tarleton State. He began his career at North Dakota State before moving to Wyoming in 2012, and then to TSU in 2021. Cuadrado currently has 190 career wins, securing 22 of those with the Texans.

11 new athletes entered the program for the 2025 season, as well as 16 returning Texans. TSU's 27-woman roster includes seven international players from two different countries: Australia and Canada.

Eight current Texans have been pillars in building the foundation of the program, competing with Tarleton State Women's Soccer since its beginning in 2022. These athletes include Mikayla Kendall, Rylie Bloomfield, Avery Harr, Kyra Goudzwaard, Kaitlyn Flanagan, Teeghan Dodd, Jaycie Bass and Macy Hellwig. All eight athletes are now academic seniors and will be graduating during the 2025-2026 academic year.

The 2025 WAC conference schedule consists of 10 games, with only six teams being active members in the league this year. The 2025 WAC Tournament will be hosted by Utah Valley and will be held at UCCU Stadium in Orem, Utah from November 5-8.

Tarleton State will return to action this Sunday to host their Bounce Back Brunch for their matchup with McNeese at the Tarleton State Soccer Complex. More information will be released soon.
