TEXAN FOOTBALL is one of the best stories in the nation to start the 2025 campaign, and that was further proven on Monday, as the Texans were named the Stats Perform FCS National Team of the Week following wins at Portland State and Army. The Texans just earned one of its best victories in program history, beating the defending American champions, Army, in West Point on Friday night in double overtime. This was Tarleton State's first road victory against an FBS program in its fourth try, and second win against an FBS program in five total matchups, having also defeated New Mexico State in El Paso in 2021. Now through two games, the Texans are the lone FCS program 2-0 on the year, and one of five NCAA Division I programs 2-0 across FBS and FCS (Iowa State, Kansas, UNLV and Western Kentucky). Tarleton State will host its home opener on Sept. 6, as the Texans take on Mississippi Valley State at Memorial Stadium at 6 p.m. It will be a Purple Out and the New Student Run in Stephenville, as fans are encouraged to don Tarleton State's signature color and new students are encouraged to participate in the pregame run on the field before kickoff.

At the tailgate will be free food, water, music, and the Texan Volleyball team will join at some point during the tailgate.
