Tarleton State Men’s Golf’s annual fundraiser set for May 1

STEPHENVILLE, Texas – Tarleton State Men's Golf's annual fundraiser is slated for Friday, May 1st at Sugar Tree Golf Club in Lipan, Texas.

All proceeds from the event will benefit Tarleton State Men's Golf, assisting with costs for travel, equipment and other necessities for the program's success.

This year's event will be a 3-man scramble and will include breakfast, lunch and drinks (alcohol/non-alcoholic) along with custom golf tee gifts. Cost is $300 per player and $900 per team. Hole sponsorship opportunities are also available for $500 or $1,250 per team.

"We're excited to get back together with all of our supporters for our fourth annual fundraising tournament," Cain said. "It's a fun format that everyone enjoys and to be around our supporters for the day. It's a big help for our program to help cover our expenses for travel, equipment, and other needs to keep building in the right direction."

The Texans ended the 2025 Fall season with their first-ever Division I team title at the FAU Invitational back in October. Sophomore Luis Buech and freshman Maximilian Bjornstrom tied for third with a 6-under-par 138 performance, getting 10 birdies each for their career-best finishes. They cracked the top 10 for lowest 36-hole score by a Texan in the Division I era. Buech was named WAC Golfer of the Month for October for his efforts.

Under Cain's leadership, the Texans have posted a top four finish at the WAC Championship in each of the last two years. Tarleton State has also had multiple top 10 finishers at the conference championship the past two seasons.

Tarleton State begins the spring portion of its season in the Lone Star State, competing at the Bentwater Intercollegiate in Montgomery, Texas, Feb. 9-10.
