Tarleton State Track and Field heads to Houston for Robert Platt Invitational

STEPHENVILLE, Texas — The Tarleton State Track and Field program heads into in penultimate weekend of the indoor regular season at Houston for the Robert Platt Invitational on Friday and Saturday at the Yeoman Fieldhouse.
 
The meet will be streamed on YouTube with a separate link for each day. Live results are provided by flash results. For results and highlights followed @tarletontrackxc on Instagram and X.
 
The Texans will send Malak Rashwan to compete in the women's pentathlon on Friday as well as the three pole vaulters. On Saturday, the distance athletes hit the track as well as Geron White in the high jump. The Texans will be competing in a 21-team field. The field consists of: Alcorn State, Community Christian College, Grambling, Huston-Tillotson, Incarnate Word, Jacksonville College, Lamar, Louisiana, Rice, Sam Houston, Southern, St. Thomas, Stephen F. Austin, Texas A&M Corpus Christi, Texas A&M Kingsville, TCU, Texas Southern, Texas Wesleyan, UT Arlington, UTRGV.
 
The USTFCCA announced the first indoor track and field rankings, featuring the Texans men and women each ranked seventh in the South Central Region. The Texan Women were also ranked in the top 30 nationally, slotting in at 29th overall.
 
Last weekend, the Texans competed at a pair of meets. The Purple and White jumpers went to the JD Martin Invitational in Oklahoma. The jumpers posted four new top 10 performances best as well as sweeping the long jump individual titles. Lokesh Sathyanathan won the men's event with Prestina Ochonogor taking home the women's title. The sprinters headed to Texas Tech for the Stan Scott Invite. The sprinters set three new program records all placing in the top 30 in the NCAA this season. The squad also posted a pair of first place finishes and added 13 new top 10 performance bests. Emma Holmes shattered her own 400-meter school record by over a whole second as well as Lauren Roy in the 200 meters.
 
After two weekends of competition for the Texans this season, the Texans women have a total of four athletes posting six top 50 performances in the NCAA. Lauren Roy and Victoria Cameron each rank in the top 50 in the 60 meters and the 200 meters. Roy ran the second fastest time in the nation last weekend at the Stan Scott Invite. After altitude corrections, her 22.96 seconds is the second fastest in the nation. She also holds the 13th fastest time in the 60 meters in 7.25 seconds. Cameron is 12th in the 60 in 7.24 seconds and 36th in the 200 in 23.73 seconds. In the 400 meters, Emma Holmes school record, and Scott Scott Invite winning time of 53.97 seconds in 37th in the NCAA. Prestina Ochongor is the lone women's field athlete ranked in the top 50. She posted the 10th best leap in the nation at 6.40 meters at the JD Martin Invitational.
 
On the men's side, the field athletes have posted multiple top 50 performances. Sir Jonathan Sims is ranked in both the long and triple jumps. In the long jump, he is 14th with a best leap of 7.73 meters. In the triple jump he is 35th with a best of 15.52 meters. Lokesh Sathyanathan ranks 10th in the NCAA in the long jump with a best jump of 7.83 meters. Jalen Cadet also ranks 23rd in the long jump with a personal best of 7.60 meters this year. Davi Torres is 34th in the nation in the high jump clearing the 2.13-meter bar in the first meet of the season. Ca'terrin Cox is 45th in the country in the 60-meter hurdles clocking in at an altitude converted time of 7.84 seconds.
 
Tarleton State will have a week off before their final regular season weekend of the indoor slate. On Feb. 13-14, the Texans will head to Texas Tech for the Jarvis Scott Invite as well as to Arkansas for the Tyson Invitational. The Tyson Invitational is hosted at the Randal Tyson Track Center, the home of the 2026 NCAA Indoor National Championships, March 13-14.
