Tarleton State Volleyball’s Guinn named UAC Defensive Player of the Week

STEPHENVILLE, Texas – Tarleton State Volleyball defensive specialist/libero Leddy Rae Guinn has been named United Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday.

Guinn, a junior from Stephenville, is the first Texan libero to earn a conference weekly award since 2024 (Emma Halcomb). This is Guinn's first weekly honor at the Division I level.

The Stephenville native was key in Tarleton State's rivalry win on Saturday against Abilene Christian. Guinn collected 21 digs, her fifth match with 20+ digs. She also helped the Texans force ACU into a .137 hit percentage, allowing Tarleton State to win its fourth straight match in the rivalry.

With the Texans having the task of replacing Western Athletic Conference Libero of the Year, Morgan Carter, Guinn has played an important role in filling those shoes in 2026. Guinn leads the Texans in digs (319) and digs per set (4.56) while holding a reception percentage of .949.

Guinn picked up her first Division I honor in her team's hometown tournament this year, being named to the 2026 Tarleton State Invitational All-Tournament Team. Her 26 digs in the UAC opener are the most by a Tarleton State player in a conference opener in the D1 era. It was the most digs by a Tarleton State player in a conference opener since 2009.

Guinn transferred to Tarleton State last year after spending a season at Lubbock Christian in 2024. She earned multiple conference accolades, including All-Lone Star Conference Honorable Mention, All-Lone Star Conference Tournament Team honors, Lone Star Conference Freshman of the Week, and Lone Star Conference Setter of the Week. In her lone season in 2024, Guinn appeared in all 27 matches and ranked 10th in the LSC with an average of 3.9 digs per set.

At nearby Stephenville High School, Guinn earned Honorable Mention All-State honors (TSWA, 4A) and was named District 6-4A Defensive Player of the Year at libero. She guided her team to a 34-6 record and a Region I-4A Final appearance.

Tarleton State goes on the road for a three-match road swing starting Thursday, traveling to Little Rock for a 6 p.m. showdown.
