Tarleton State Volleyball hosts annual “Volloween” match, takes on West Georgia Thursday

STEPHENVILLE, Texas – Tarleton State Volleyball meets West Georgia for the first time in program history as the Texans host their annual "Volloween" match on Thursday at 6 p.m. at Wisdom Gym.

Wisdom Gym will be Halloween themed and fans are encouraged to wear their costumes to the match. Free candy will also be given to fans.

Tarleton State is looking to stay in the top six of the UAC standings, with the Texans currently in a tie for fifth with UTA. The top six teams in the UAC standings make the conference tournament.

Tickets start at just $10 and can be purchased here. Fans unable to attend the match can watch on ESPN+ and follow live stats through Stat Broadcast.

FANTASTIC FADAL
  • Needing to replace setter Megan Hodges, who graduated in 2025, the Texans turned to the transfer portal to get a setter.
  • Junior setter Peyton Fadal, a transfer from Houston Christian, brings experience to the court and the position.
  • After missing the first 14 matches with an injury, Fadal has established herself as the starting setter for the Texans. She has started every match she has played thus far.
  • Fadal obtained her 1,000th career assist at UTA (10/20). The 1,000th assist came on the fifth point in the third set. She matched a season-high 26 assists in the process.
  • She finished 49th in all NCAA Division I in assists per set with 9.93 last season, averaging 11.26 assists per set in SLC play and second in the league.
  • Fadal captured two SLC Setter of the Week accolades after averaging 12 assists per match to lead HCU to wins last season.
LEAVE IT TO LEDDY
  • Stephenville native and libero Leddy Rae Guinn was named United Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Oct. 12.
  • Guinn, a junior from Stephenville, is the first Texan libero to earn a conference weekly award since 2024 (Emma Halcomb). This is Guinn's first weekly honor at the Division I level.
  • The Stephenville native was key in Tarleton State's rivalry win against Abilene Christian (10/10). Guinn collected 21 digs, her fifth match with 20+ digs. She also helped the Texans force ACU into a .137 hit percentage, allowing Tarleton State to win its fourth straight match in the rivalry.
  • With the Texans having the task of replacing Western Athletic Conference Libero of the Year, Morgan Carter, Guinn has played an important role in filling those shoes in 2026. Guinn leads the Texans in digs and digs per set.
  • Guinn picked up her first Division I honor in her team's hometown tournament this year, being named to the 2026 Tarleton State Invitational All-Tournament Team.
  • Guinn also owns the Division I single match program record for most digs with 33 against Denver (9/11).
  • Her 26 digs in the UAC opener are the most by a Tarleton State player in a conference opener in the D1 era. It was the most digs by a Tarleton State player in a conference opener since 2009.
  • Guinn transferred from Lubbock Christian, where she received multiple conference accolades, including All-Lone Star Conference Honorable Mention, All-Lone Star Conference Tournament Team honors, Lone Star Conference Freshman of the Week, and Lone Star Conference Setter of the Week.
  • At nearby Stephenville High School, Guinn earned Honorable Mention All-State honors (TSWA, 4A) and was named District 6-4A Defensive Player of the Year at libero. She guided her team to a 34-6 record and a Region I-4A Final appearance.
  • Her love for the sport of volleyball began by coming to Tarleton State Volleyball matches as a kid in the old volleyball gym.
EXCLUSIVE HOME
  • Wisdom Gym has been the exclusive home for Tarleton State Volleyball since 2025. After sharing the facility with basketball, volleyball is the lone sport to play in Wisdom Gym.
  • Tarleton State currently leads the UAC in average attendance. The Texans finished first in average attendance in the Western Athletic Conference in 2025 and were a top 100 team in attendance in all Division I volleyball.
  • The Texans installed a volleyball specific court to go with a new volleyball exclusive scoreboard.
  • Tarleton State had great attendance in the 2026 home opener against Sam Houston (9/10). The attendance of 1,543 was the third-highest attended Tarleton State Volleyball match in the last decade. The Texans hosted their annual "Field Trip Match", hosting elementary school children from Erath County.
  • "The continued investment by our administration keeps elevating all of Tarleton State Athletics' programs, and it's time for Texan Volleyball to receive an immediate facelift in facilities," Vice President and Director of Athletics Steve Uryasz said. "Moving into Wisdom Gym now will give the volleyball student-athletes an enhanced experience, and will help with recruiting as the Texans move into a new venue."
  • Built in 1970 for a cost of $1.3 million, Wisdom Gym was the home of Tarleton State Basketball for over 50 years. A volleyball gym was added to Wisdom Gym in 1977 as a part of a $1.7 million expansion project. The current gym can host a capacity over 3,000, more than twice the capacity of the old home of the Texans.
