STEPHENVILLE, Texas — Tarleton State Track and Field heads into their final regular season weekend at both the Tyson Invitational hosted by Arkansas and the Jarvis Scott Invite hosted by Texas Tech on Friday and Saturday.
The majority of the Texan contingent is heading to the Jarvis Scott Invite for their final tune up before the WAC Championships at the end of the month. The Two-day meet will be held at the Texas Tech Sports Performance Center, the Texans' third trip to Lubbock this season. A few Texan jumpers and sprinters will head to the Tyson Invitational to compete at the same facility that will host the NCAA Indoor National Championships in March.
Both meets will be streamed with the Jarvis Scott Invite on ESPN+ and the Tyson Invitational on SEC Network+. Live results are provided by flash results. For results and highlights followed @tarletontrackxc on Instagram and X.
In the USTFCCCA's third week of indoor track and field rankings, the Texan women are ranked ninth in the South Central Region. The men are slated 13
th in the latest rankings on Feb. 10. The Texans are slotted second in both the men and women WAC rankings behind Utah Valley. The Texan long jumpers are ranked as the third event group in the nation only behind Kansas State and Texas. On the women's side, the Texans 60-meter group is ranked seventh in the nation. In addition, women's long jump is 16
th and the 200-meter group is slotted 17
th in the NCAA.
Three Texan women rank in the top 50 in the NCAA heading into the final weekend of the regular season.
Lauren Roy ranks seventh in the 200 with a personal best of 22.96 seconds and 16
th in the 60 meters in 7.25 seconds.
Victoria Cameron owns the 14
th best time in the 60 meters in the country this year at 7.24 seconds. In field events,
Prestina Ochonogor who was a First Team All-American in the women's long jump last season, ranks 17
th with a best leap of 6.40 meters.
On the men's side, four field athletes have posted top 50 performances.
Sir Jonathan Sims is ranked in both the long and triple jumps. In the long jump, he is 20
th with a best leap of 7.73 meters. In the triple jump he is 44
th with a best of 15.52 meters.
Lokesh Sathyanathan ranks 12
th in the NCAA in the long jump with a best jump of 7.83 meters.
Jalen Cadet also ranks 35
th in the long jump with a personal best of 7.60 meters this year.
Davi Torres is 46
th in the nation in the high jump clearing the 2.13-meter bar in the first meet of the season.
Tarleton State will begin their postseason slate at the WAC Championships on Feb. 27-28 at The Podium in Spokane, Wash.
