Tarleton State Women’s Golf heads to Sam Houston for Texas Golf Throwdown

STEPHENVILLE, Texas — Tarleton State Women's Golf continues its spring slate on Monday Tuesday at the Texas Golf Throwdown at The Woodlands Country Club hosted by Sam Houston.

The two-day 54-hole event will begin on Monday with a pair of rounds. The final round is slated for Tuesday. The 15-team field includes WAC foe UT Arlington as well as top competitors such as Texas A&M, Cincinnati, Nebraska and Iowa State. The Texans have competed in the Bearkats Invitational in each of the last two falls, but this will be the first time the Texans compete at Sam Houston in the spring. Last year, the team posted a second-place finish in the fall.

"We are super excited to be back in competition this week," said head coach Isabel Jimenez. "We had a great start of the season and we look forward to continuing on that trend. This week's course and field will be challenging but we are ready to take it on."

The Texans will send out a five-woman squad for the second-consecutive event of the spring, again without the injured Darianys Guzman. Louise Depadt and Lou Deltombe will occupy the first two slots. The duo is followed by Natalia Fiel Ros, Rebeca Fernandez and Gina Chen.

The Texans began the spring slate at the Texas State Invitational placing second overall as a team. The Purple and White were the only squad to shoot under par on the first round and were one of two programs to finish the first day under-par. The Texans placed second overall to the host, Texas State.

Depadt made her return to the course after missing the last four events of the fall due to injury. She broke the program record for the lowest 18-hole round, shooting a 64 on her second round. The junior previously owned the 18-hole record with a 66 at the WAC Championships last season. Depadt also broke the program 54-hole record carding an 11-under, 205. She previously held the 54-hole record with a 206 at the WAC Championships last spring. She walked away with her third individual win of her Texan career, and the first of the 2025-26 season, winning by four strokes.

Lou Deltombe had an impressive start to the spring tying Depadt's 18-hole record with a 66 in the first round, Depadt then broke the record in the very next round. Deltombe finished the tournament carding a one-over par, 217 to place ninth overall.

The Texans will have two weeks off before heading to Puerto Rico. The Purple and White will compete at the Puerto Rico Shootout in Humacao, PR. The three-day event will begin on March 3 and conclude on Thursday, March 5th.
