Four Tarleton State Track and Field Athletes earn WAC Weekly Honors

STEPHENVILLE, Texas — Four Tarleton State Track and Field athletes were recognized by the WAC on Wednesday afternoon as athletes of the week, for their performances in the Texans last weekend of competition.

In competing for just three weekends, the Texans have now earned seven WAC weekly awards. Lokesh Sathaynathan earned his second of the season while Prestina Ochonogor, Lauren Roy and Ca'terrin Cox each earned their first of the season. In total, Sathyanathan now has won the weekly award four times, and three times in the indoor season. Cox and Roy each won their first last outdoor season. Ochonogor earned her first weekly honor of her young career.

Lauren Roy was tabbed the WAC Women's Track Athlete of the Week after a sensational performance at the Stan Scott Invite. Roy won the 200 meters in record-setting fashion becoming the first Texan to run sub-23 seconds in program history. She clocked in at 22.89 seconds, the second fastest time in the NCAA and the fastest in the WAC this indoor season. She also placed second in the 60 meters edging out teammate Victoria Cameron. The Northern Ireland native crossed in 7.23 seconds, the new Irish World Lead in the 60 meters this year. Her 7.23 seconds ranks the 11th fastest in the NCAA and second fastest in the WAC behind teammate, Cameron.

On the men's side, Ca'terrin Cox was named the WAC Men's Track Athlete of the Week. Cox broke his own school record in the 60-meter hurdles in the finals at the Stan Scott Invite. After coming up one hundredth of a second short of the record he tied last season in the prelims, Cox burned off in 7.82 seconds, the fastest in the WAC this season. He claimed third place at the event and owned the 37th fastest time in the NCAA this year.

Prestina Ochonogor claimed the WAC Women's Field Athlete of the Week Award. Ochonogor won the women's long jump at the JD Martin Invitational. She leapt 6.40 meters to take the crown. Her leap leads the WAC this indoor season and posted the 10th best mark in the NCAA this indoor season. Last year, Ochonogor was a First Team All-American in the long jump at both the indoor and outdoor championships.

Lokesh Sathyanathan was tabbed the WAC Men's Field Athlete of the Week. Sathyanathan was part of the Texans sweep of the men's and women's long jump at the JD Martin Invitational. Sathyanathan took home the title with his best jump of the season, 7.83 meters. With that leap, he now leads the WAC is ranks ninth in the NCAA.

The Texans will wrap up their regular season at a pair of meets next weekend. Tarleton State will send a squad to Texas Tech to compete at the Jarvis Scott Invitational on Feb. 13-14. The Purple and White will also be sending a smaller group to Arkansas to compete at the Tyson Invitational, the site of the 2026 NCAA Indoor National Championships held on March 13-14.
