STEPHENVILLE, Texas — Tarleton State Track and Field will head to Baylor for the third and final time to compete at the Michael Johnson Invitational on Friday and Saturday in their penultimate competition of the regular season.
The Texans will open the meet with pole vault to start at 12 p.m. Results will be live through NTX Timing. There will not be a stream available for the meet. For live updates and highlights follow @tarletontrackxc on X and Instagram.
Last time out at the Joe Gillespie Invitational, the Texans crowned 15 event champions across the two days last weekend. The Purple and White set 12 new program top 10 performance bests. Tarleton State also posted seven new facility records across the two days.
Victoria Cameron earned her second WAC Weekly Award in three weeks after her performances at the Joe Gillespie Invitational. She took home the title in the women's 200 meters crossing in 23.05 seconds. She also was a member of the winning 4x100 meter relay team. Cameron tops the NCAA West Region in the 100 meters and is 18th in the 200.
Currently, the Texans have 10 athletes and two relays that rank in the top 50 in the NCAA West Region. The top 48 in each event will head to the NCAA West First Rounds in Fayetteville, Ark. on May 28-31. The Women's 4x100 relay ranks 13th and
JayBrion Jones in 14th in the men's 100 meters, both of which were set this past weekend at the Joe Gillespie Invitational.
Ca'terrin Cox is 16th in the men's 110 hurdles.
Tayler Wessely ranks 22nd in the women's hammer throw. In the men's long jump,
Jalen Cadet ranks 20th and
Sir Jonathan Sims is 33rd.
Sir Jonathan Sims also is ranked 34th in the triple jump, where
Johnathon Rodgers is 31st. In the men's pole vault,
Jacob Thomas is 27th.
David Mvundura is 28th in the 200 and a part of the 4x100 meter relay that ranks 32nd.
Davi Torres is 46th in the men's high jump.
Last season, Tarleton State broke four program records last year at the Michael Johnson Invitational.
Lauren Roy broke the school record in the 200 meters,
Tayler Wessely set the hammer throw record,
Sir Jonathan Sims broke the long jump record and the 4x100 meter relay team broke the program record as well.
Lokesh Sathyanathan and
Angel Gomez each took home the individual titles in the long jump and 5000 meters.
Tarleton State Track and Field will head to the SMU Invitational for their regular season finale next weekend May 1-2.
