Tarleton State earns pair of Second Team All-Americans and Honorable Mention All-American at 2026 NCAA Championships

EUGENE, Ore. — Victoria Cameron and Prestina Ochonogor earned Second Team All-American honors while Lauren Roy became an Honorable Mention All-American on Thursday at the 2026 NCAA Division I Track & Field Championships at Hayward Field.

A year after five Texans earned All-American status, with two earning First Team honors, a pair of Texans earned Second Team recognition on Thursday. Cameron placed 10th overall in the 100 meters and Ochonogor finished in 11th in the long jump to each earn Second Team All-American honors. Cameron earned her second-consecutive Second Team recognition. Roy earned her fist outdoor individual honor, placing 17th in the 200 meters to earn Honorable Mention All-American status.

"Our women had an outstanding season, and one meet does not erase everything they accomplished," said head coach Bobby Carter. "We competed with some of the best athletes in the country and gained valuable championship experience that will make us better. I'm proud of how they fought, proud of how they represented Tarleton State, and excited about what's ahead. We leave Eugene motivated and determined. We'll regroup, get back to work, and return stronger and faster. This isn't the end of our story—it's another step in our journey, and we'll be back on this stage with a vengeance."

Cameron posted the ninth fastest time in the semifinals of the 100 meters in 11.06 seconds. For the second-straight year, Cameron earns Second Team All-American honors. However, in each heat the top two times advance to the finals and then the next best three times. Therefore, Cameron fell short of qualifying as the 10th best time finished second in the heat to knock her out of the finals and land her to place 10th overall. She found herself in a historic heat where the heat winner, Georgia's Adaejah Hodge set the new NCAA record and posted the fifth-best time all-time in the world in 10.63 seconds. Cameron's 11.06 performance marks her ninth sub-11.10 second time in her collegiate career. She owns nine of the top 11 times in program history under all-conditions.

Ochonogor leapt into Second Team All-American status on her third and final jump of the competition. Sitting 19th with a best leap of 6.06 meters heading into her final attempt, she jumped eight places with a 6.40-meter jump to move into 11th place overall. It marks her fourth All-American performance in her first two years with the Texans. Stanford's Alyssa Jones took home the title after an opening leap of 7.06 meters which also set a new meet record. The 2024 Paris Olympian has won four WAC long jump titles at the indoor and outdoor championships.

Roy clocked in at 22.99 seconds in the 200 meters to earn Honorable Mention All-American honors. The senior placed sixth in her heat and 17th overall in the field. Roy turned in her fifth sub-23 second mark in her Texan career. She owns five of the seven sub-23 times in program history and six of the top 10 in program history in the 200 meters. Roy earns her first outdoor individual All-American honor after earning Second Team recognition as part of the 4x100 meter relay team last year.
