Tarleton State Track and Field to send three women to NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships

STEPHENVILLE, Texas — Tarleton State Track and Field officially has three student-athletes that punched their ticket to the 2026 NCAA Division I Track and Field Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Ore. from June 10-13 at Hayward Field, the NCAA announced on Monday.

Cameron and Ochonogor each qualified for their second-consecutive appearance at the NCAA Outdoor Championships. Each have also made two consecutive appearances at the NCAA Indoor Championships. Lauren Roy punched her individual ticket to the NCAA Championships for the first time in her career after competing as part of the 4x100 meter relay team last year in Oregon. Last year, the Purple and White only had two women qualify as individuals with three additional athletes running in the 4x100 meter relay.

"I couldn't be prouder of these young women," said head coach Bobby Carter. "To have our 100-meter sprinter, 200-meter sprinter and long jumper punch their tickets to the NCAA Championships is a tremendous accomplishment and a reflection of the work they've put in all year. What makes it even more special is the adversity they faced along the way. There were challenges, setbacks, and moments that tested them, but they never stopped believing, never stopped competing, and when the moment arrived, they got the job done. We're excited to have three women representing our program on the national stage, and we look forward to seeing what they can accomplish in Eugene.".

Ochonogor will look to claim her fourth First Team All-American honor is as many appearances at an NCAA Championship. Last year, at the outdoor championships she placed eighth with a best leap of 6.41 meters. She placed fifth at the 2026 indoor championships earlier this year. She is one of eight freshmen or sophomores in the field and owns the second-best mark among those. Ochonogor ranks fifth after the NCAA West First Round with a jump of 6.51 meters. The Benin, Nigeria, native, is one of seven athletes from a mid-major competing in the 24-women field. She is one of seven overall returners in back-to-back outdoor championships and is one of four that reached the finals a year ago.

Cameron looks to repeat as a First Team All-American after a third-place performance at the indoor championships in the 60 meters. Cameron placed ninth in the 100-meter finals at the NCAA Championships last year in Eugene, Ore. This year, she enters 11th in the field of 24 and is one of two athletes from a non-Power Four program. Cameron is one of 12 in the field that competed in last year's NCAA Championship 100 meters. Seven of the nine athletes that reached the final including Cameron, return for the 2026 edition. Each athlete in the field enters with a time at their respective quarterfinals faster than the winning time of 11.14 seconds last year. The top 10 times in the field are sub-11 where only four athletes entered with sub-11 second marks last year.

Roy is making her first individual appearance at the NCAA Outdoor Championships. Earlier this season she competed in the 200 meters at the NCAA Indoor Championships where she was a Second Team All-American. Roy enters the competition ranked 18th in the field with a school record mark of 20.83 seconds. Heading into the championships, the ninth best mark is 22.55 seconds. Roy will need to be in the top nine to make the finals of the 200 meters on Saturday. The Northern Ireland native is one of three athletes in the field from a non-Power Four program. She is also one of 11 seniors in the field as well.

Cameron will be the first to compete in the 100 meters semifinals on Thursday, June 11 at 6:25 pm. Ochonogor will compete in the long jump at 6:40 with a national champion being crowned. Roy will also compete in the semifinals with the 200 set to start at 7:29 pm. Roy and Cameron will look to be in the top nine to advance to Saturday's finals.
