HUMBLE, Texas – Tarleton State Men's Golf returns to action this week as the Texans travel to Humble, Texas, to compete in the All-American Intercollegiate beginning Monday at the Golf Club of Houston.
The two-day tournament will feature a 54-hole format, with 36 holes scheduled for Monday followed by the final round on Tuesday. The event will be played on the Tournament Course, a par-72 layout that has hosted numerous collegiate and professional events.
Tarleton State enters the tournament following a strong performance at the Golden Nugget Invitational earlier this month. As a team, Tarleton State compiled the lowest 54-hole score in the program history at 828, shooting 36-under-par as a group. The Texans, who beat the previous record by 10 strokes, collected a third-place finish. This was Tarleton State's second consecutive tournament finishing in the top three in the team standings.Â
Redshirt freshmanÂ
Alvaro Pastor won his first collegiate individual title at the event, shooting 16-under-par to become Tarleton State's third player to win an individual title. The Madrid, Spain, native set three school records (Low 18 - 65, Low 36 - 131 and Low 54 - 200) and tallied 16 birdies to go with an eagle to win the individual title by two strokes. Pastor was also named WAC Golfer of the Week on March 5 for his efforts.Â
The Texans will once again see several top teams in the same field. Tarleton State will go up against two nationally ranked opponents in No. 4 Arkansas and No. 49 Rice. The Texans will also once again face WAC rival Abilene Christian and UT Arlington for the first time this season. Tarleton State has finished ahead of ACU in both the FAU Invitational and the Golden Nugget Invitational.Â
Tee times for the opening round will begin at 8 a.m. on Monday morning, with live scoring available through Scoreboard by Clipd.Â
