Buech’s sixth-place finish leads Tarleton State Men’s Golf in Memphis Intercollegiate

CORDOVA, Tenn. – Tarleton State Men's Golf sophomore Luis Buech collected his third top 10 finish of the season, tying for sixth at the Memphis Intercollegiate that wrapped up on Tuesday at the Colonial Country Club.

Buech combined for 11 birdies over the two-day event, which included a 2-under-par 70 in the second round and a 1-under-par 71 in the final round. He eagled on a par 5 on the No. 7 hole in Monday's second round. This was Buech's first top 10 finish since his fourth-place finish at the Border Olympics last month.

Redshirt freshman Alvaro Pastor posted his sixth straight top 15 finish, coming in 14th on the player leaderboard. Pastor collected nine birdies in the event and finished the final round with a 1-under-par 71. He birdied twice and only bogeyed once in the final round to close out the tournament.

After shooting an even par 72 in the second round, freshman Maximilian Bjornstrom picked up his third top 20 finish of the season. He closed the Memphis Intercollegiate with a 223 54-hole score to tie for 20th on the player leaderboard. Junior Juan Ballestor tied for 53rd with a 54-hole score of 233 while sophomore Kellen Young tied for 56th with a 54-hole score of 235.

Tarleton State finished in sixth place as a team with a 54-hole score of 887. Host school Memphis won the event by 12 strokes, shooting 2-over-par as a team. Wright State's Timmy Hollenbeck won the individual title at 5-under-par, defeating Memphis' Yixiang Wang by two strokes.

The Texans return to action next week, traveling to Columbia, Missouri, for the Tiger Intercollegiate.
