Tarleton State Tennis continues road trip this weekend in Tulsa

TULSA, Okla. – Tarleton State Tennis continue their 2026 spring road swing this weekend, heading to Tulsa, Oklahoma, for back-to-back duals against Kansas City on Saturday at 12 p.m. and Tulsa on Sunday at 9:30 a.m. at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.

After a tight 4-3 loss to UTSA on Sunday, The Texans will look to rebound and build momentum as the second half of the season nears.

Senior Ximena Morales Morales was named WAC Singles Player of the Week on Tuesday, with the honor giving the Texans their fourth straight weekly award from the conference. Morales was instrumental in helping the Texans win their 17th straight home match with a 4-3 win over App State. Her win at No. 3 singles was the winner-take-all match, winning six of the final seven games to give the Texans the victory. She also won her eighth straight singles match on Sunday against UTSA.

Freshman Aya Ishii also picked up a singles win on Sunday with Morales. Ishii is currently tied with Morales in singles wins with eight. The freshman from Tochigi, Japan, also leads the Texans in doubles wins with seven, including a 6-3 mark with fellow freshman Marissa Minetti.

Kansas City enters this matchup early in its spring slate, having played several non-conference opponents with mixed results. This includes close losses to Creighton and Drake.

Tarleton State will turn around on Sunday to take on Tulsa. The Golden Hurricane boast a strong recent history in women's tennis and have been solid competitors regionally.Tulsa has won their last two matches and has challenged itself against powerhouses such as Oklahoma, Kansas State, Iowa, TCU and Arizona State.

Both matches will be video streamed through Tulsa's website. Live scoring will also be available on Sunday's match through Stat Broadcast.
