WEEK AT A GLANCE: Texan Men’s Golf at WAC Championship, Tennis and Women’s Golf host NCAA Tournament selection shows watch parties

After a strong eight days for Tarleton State Athletics that included a Texan Tennis WAC championship, a Texan Women's Golf WAC championship, and conference sweeps for both Texan Softball and Baseball, Tarleton State Athletics will be on the road this week besides the NCAA selection shows, highlighted by Texan Men's Golf at the WAC Championship.
 
TEXAN MEN'S GOLF is headed to the Western Athletic Conference Championship on Monday at the Clubs of Stonebridge Ranch - The Dye Course. Each day will be an 18-hole round, with the final round scheduled for Wednesday morning. Redshirt freshman Alvaro Pastor finished as the runner-up in Tarleton State's last event, the Tiger Invitational, shooting a 54-hole score of 206. His performance in Missouri landed him his third WAC Player of the Week title. The Texans placed fourth in the 2025 WAC Championship, their best performance of that year. The Texans seek their first conference tournament title in program history. The winning team of the 2026 WAC Men's Golf Championship will represent the conference at the NCAA Regional Championships. Also, on Friday, Texan Men's Golf will host its annual fundraiser golf tournament at Sugar Tree Golf Club in Lipan, Texas, on Friday.
 
TEXAN TENNIS has punched its ticket into the NCAA Tournament for the first time in the program's NCAA Division I era after winning the WAC Tournament championship last weekend. The Texans will be making their first appearance in the dance since their at-large bid to the Division II NCAA Tournament in 2017. Tarleton State's location and opponent for the 2026 NCAA Tournament will be revealed during the Selection Show on Monday at 3:30 p.m. CT. The show will be broadcast live on NCAA.com, and Tarleton State will be hosting a Watch Party for the 2026 NCAA Selection Show in the Athletic Administration building, Room 115, with refreshments provided. The NCAA Tournament's first round begins Friday, with the championship set for Sunday, May 17, at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex in Athens, Georgia. The championship is a 64-team, single-elimination tournament. First- and second-round competition will be conducted at a minimum of 16 sites, with four teams at each site. Thirty conference champions receive automatic qualification into the team championships.
 
TEXAN WOMEN'S GOLF clinched its second consecutive WAC Championship on Wednesday, winning by 11 strokes at The Clubs of Stonebridge Ranch Hills Course. Louise Depadt closed her three days with a great final round to claim back-to-back WAC Individual Championships. Tarleton State pulled off a comeback after ending the first round in fourth place. The Texans improved by 17 strokes in their second round to tie Abilene Christian for first heading into the final day. After the first nine holes, the Texans led by two and saw their lead increase in the back nine to 11 to claim the back-to-back title. As the WAC Champion, the Tarleton State Texans earn an automatic bid to their second-straight NCAA Regional. The Texans will await their destination they will compete in by tuning into the selection show at 3 p.m. on Wednesday. Tarleton State will be hosting a Watch Party for the 2026 NCAA Selection Show in the Athletic Administration building, Room 115, with refreshments provided. The field will be announced on the Golf Channel on with qualifiers split into six regional sites. The tournament championship will begin on Friday, May 22, and continue through Wednesday, May 27, at the Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, California.
 
TEXAN SOFTBALL has won nine straight conference games and is now second in the WAC at 12-3, with a 34-18 overall record. The Texans will play four games this week, a rematch against No. 3 Texas Tech, then a three-game series against the WAC leader California Baptist, all games on the road. The Texans and Red Raiders will square off for a second time this season, Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Rocky Johnson Field in Lubbock, Texas. The third ranked national Red Raiders defeated the Texans in Stephenville on March 24, when they were the No. 2 team in the country. Texas Tech is 47-4 this year, 19-2 in Big 12 action, with a 14-1 home mark. Then Friday-Saturday, the Texans and Lancers will meet for three games in Riverside, California, with a doubleheader on Friday (6:30 p.m. CT and 9 p.m. CT), then a 4 p.m. CT start on Saturday. CBU is a game ahead of Tarleton State in the WAC standings at 13-2, spotting a 38-15 overall record.
 
TEXAN BASEBALL just earned its first conference sweep of the season to improve to 8-4 in the WAC, 28-15 overall, now tied for first place in the conference with Utah Tech. The Texans will play four games on the road this week; at No. 7 Texas A&M on Tuesday at 6 p.m., then a three-game series at Utah Tech on Friday at 7 p.m. CT, Saturday at 3 p.m. CT and Sunday at 12 p.m. CT. Tarleton State has won five straight conference games, and just swept the reigning WAC Tournament champions in Stephenville, with a comeback victory on Sunday against Utah Valley. The Texans will clash with their third SEC opponent of the season on Tuesday in Bryan-College Station, Texas, at Blue Bell Park, taking on the Aggies. Then this weekend will be a clash between the top two teams in the WAC standings in St. George, Utah.
 
TEXAN TRACK AND FIELD will compete in its final regular season meet of the 2025-26 campaign, at the SMU Invitational in Dallas Friday-Saturday. Tarleton State Track and Field yet again saw several records fall this past weekend at Baylor's Michael Johnson Invitational, including an all-time WAC record, all-conditions National Record, two school records as well as securing three event titles. The Texans saw the women's 4x100 meter relay team break their own WAC All-time record in one of the first event son Saturday. Malak Rashwan broke the Egyptian all-conditions national record in both the prelims and finals. Lauren Roy and JayBrion Jones each ran a top 20 NCAA team in the 100 meters to close out the day. In addition Davi Torres and Sir Jonathan Sims won their events on Saturday.
 
TICKETS are available for all of the upcoming home events online at TarletonSports.com/tickets. The Tarleton State Ticket Office is located on the west side entrance of Memorial Stadium. Regular business hours are Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. All Tarleton State students receive free admission through the Corq App. All admission to soccer, tennis, beach volleyball, golf and track and field events are free.
