Pastor’s runner-up finish highlights Tarleton State Men’s Golf’s performance at Tiger Invitational

COLUMBIA, Mo. – Redshirt freshman Alvaro Pastor finished as the Tiger Invitational runner-up to lead Tarleton State Men's Golf in Missouri at the The Club at Old Hawthorne on Tuesday.

He finished his ninth tournament of the season at 4-under-par, his seventh tournament with an under par performance. Pastor tallied 11 birdies en route to his fifth top 10 finish, placing ahead of three golfers ranked in Scoreboard's Top 150 rankings. The Tiger Invitational was Pastor's third tournament this season where he finished first or second. His 206 54-hole score marked his second-lowest mark of the season, cracking the top five for lowest 54-hole scores in program history.

The Madrid, Spain, native started strong in the first round, shooting at or under par in his first 15 holes. After a bogey on his 16th hole of the day, Pastor shot an even par and birdied his final first round hole to collect a 4-under-par 66. Pastor shot an even par 70 in each of his final two rounds to climb the player leaderboard. Pastor was one of just six players to finish under par on Tuesday, finishing ahead of players from Iowa State, Mizzou, Xaver and UTSA.

Mizzou's Veikka Viskari won the individual title at 6-under-par, with Mizzou winning its home tournament by seven strokes. Iowa State took second with at even par, finishing ahead of St. Mary's (CA), Xaver, and Kansas. Tarleton State came in sixth place with a 54-hole score of 856, finishing ahead of Nebraska, South Dakota, South Dakota State, UTSA and others in the 19-team field.
