STEPHENVILLE, Texas — Tarleton State's
Filippa Mortensen was named the United Athletic Conference Women's Golfer of the Week after placing 14
th in her collegiate and Texan debut at the Tulane Classic earlier this week.
Mortensen earns her first UAC honor and becomes the first Texan golfer to earn a UAC weekly award after Tarleton State joined the UAC on July 1, 2026. As a member of the Western Athletic Conference last year,
Lou Deltombe earned WAC Golfer of the Month honors in the fall. In the spring,
Louise Depadt was tabbed the Golfer of the Week twice and Deltombe earned the honor once as well.
"We are proud and happy for Filippa, her fighting spirit and determination allowed her to have a very consistent performance this week, and she is very deserving of this weekly award," said head coach
Isabel Jimenez. "Her season is off to a great start ,and we are excited to see what's ahead for her and us as a team."
Mortensen's strong debut was anchored by a one-over par, 73 on her second round. She started the tournament shooting a 74 with a pair of birdies in the first round of the day. After a brief lightning delay, she notched four birdies to shoot 73 on the second round of the day. In the final round she did not record a birdie but tallied a team-best 15 pars to shoot 75 and end her first event as a Texan with a six-over par, 222, to tie for 14
th place.
The freshman hails from Herlev, Denmark ahead of her first year in Stephenville. She was a graduate of Borupgaard Gymnasium in 2026. Mortensen ended her prep career as the 21st ranked golfer in the nation. In 2023, she shot par to win the Danish Elite Tour at Assrbo Golf Klub.
Tarleton State will next be in action on Sept. 21 and 22 at the Yellowstone Intercollegiate hosted by Montana State. The two-day, three-round event in Bozeman, Mont. will be held at the Riverside Country Club.
