Tarleton State Volleyball continues Texas road trip at UTSA, UIW this weekend

SAN ANTONIO – Tarleton State Volleyball is set to compete at the UTSA Invitational in San Antonio this weekend, taking on UTSA on Friday at 6 p.m. and Incarnate Word on Saturday at 1 p.m.

Friday's match will take place at UTSA's Convocation Center and Saturday's match will be at UIW's McDermott Center.

UTSA won the opening match of the UTSA Invitational in a five-set thriller over UIW on Thursday, 3-2. Tarleton State will face UTSA for the third time in program history, the second time in the Division I era.

The Texans will meet UIW for the 35th time in program history. It is the first meeting against both teams since 2023.

Both matches will be broadcast on ESPN+ and live stats will be provided through StatBroadcast (Friday) and Sidearm (Saturday).

FANTASTIC FRESHMEN
  • Tarleton State's freshmen have shined in the Texans' non-conference matches.
  • Middle Blocker Onita Davis and outside hitter Jacqui McClain were both named to the Wildcat Classic All-Tournament Team.
  • McClain led with a match-high 10 kills to go with 10 digs for her first collegiate double-double against Prairie View A&M (8/30). Her double-double made her the first freshman since 2021 to have a double-double in at least one of her first three collegiate matches (Trinity Vinzant).
  • McClain also had five service aces, tying the most by a freshman in a match in the Division I era.
  • McClain followed suit with a career-high 18 kills at (RV) Rice (9/2).
  • Davis had 15 kills at Arizona (8/29), the most by a Tarleton State freshman against a Power 4 opponent.
  • Setter Kingsley Minus produced back-to-back double-digit assist outings at Arizona (17) and Prairie View A&M (14).
STEPHENVILLE STRONG
  • Stephenville native Leddy Rae Guinn is playing an important role in 2026.
  • With the Texans having the task of replacing Western Athletic Conference Libero of the Year, Morgan Carter, Tarleton State turned to a player from its own backyard.
  • Guinn transferred to Tarleton State last year after spending a season at Lubbock Christian in 2024.
  • She came up with a Division I high 19 digs at (RV) Rice (9/2).
  • At nearby Stephenville High School, Guinn earned Honorable Mention All-State honors (TSWA, 4A) and was named District 6-4A Defensive Player of the Year at libero. She guided her team to a 34-6 record and a Region I-4A Final appearance.
  • Her love for the sport of volleyball began by coming to Tarleton State Volleyball matches as a kid in the old volleyball gym.
Sister, Sister
  • Tarleton State Volleyball has a pair of players who are currently playing college volleyball.
  • Freshman middle blocker Onita Davis' older sister, Suli Davis, is an outside hitter at SMU. Suli was a Second Team All-American in 2025 and was the Big 12 Freshman of the Year last season.
  • The Davis sisters run their own charitable organization, the Hope+Humble Foundation. The foundation empowers young female athletes by providing support and volleyball sessions to grow confidence for female adolescents.
  • Senior setter Alexis Massey's younger sister, Addison, is currently a pin for the K-State Volleyball team. Addison was named to the K-State Invitational All-Tournament Team in August.
