TexAnns block-out Hilltoppers 3-0 on Senior Night

STEPHENVILLE - The Tarleton TexAnns tallied 12.5 team blocks on their way to a 3-0 win over St. Edward's on Senior Night at Wisdom Gym on Monday night.

Seniors Shay Gracy, Danielle Perkins and Gina Galitski were each honored before the match for their contributions to the TexAnn volleyball program and each player had a hand in helping Tarleton pick up its 10th win of the season.

Gracy came into the match ranked fifth all-time on Tarleton's career blocks lists with 309 total blocks and added six more on the night.  Perkins had 11 assists, a service ace and an assist on the night, while Galitski added a pair of digs and one assist.

The TexAnns (10-19) took the first set 25-15 thanks to a .433 hitting percentage, before dropping the second set by the same score.  With the match tied 1-1, Tarleton's defense came alive and held the Hilltopper offense to just .103 and .020 hitting in the final two sets.  Tarleton won the sets with scores of 25-19 and 25-18 to win the final home match of the season.

Rachel Wolf led the TexAnn offense with 17 kills and a .359 hitting percentage and Catherine Cutbirth added 10 kills as well.  Jessie Hartman recorded a double-double, her ninth of the season, tallying 45 assists and a season-high 20 digs.  Shea McBrearty recorded 24 digs on the defensive side of the net to give her 481 digs on the season.  She is nine digs shy of breaking her own single-season record that she set last season (489).  Erin Lynn tallied a season and match-high eight block assists on the night as well.

The Hilltoppers (20-9) were led offensively by Lindy Luleff with 11 kills.  Michelle Hundt led SEU with 14 digs.

The TexAnns finished the match hitting .272 as a team, while the defense allowed the Hilltoppers to just .098 hitting.

Tarleton returns to Lone Star Conference action on Thursday, Nov. 5, when the team travels to San Angelo to face Angelo State.  First serve is set for 7 p.m.
