EDMOND, Okla. – The Tarleton TexAnn volleyball team will travel to Oklahoma this weekend for a two-match road swing that begins this Thursday, Sept. 24 against Central Oklahoma. Tarleton will then travel to Weatherford, Okla. to take on Southwestern Oklahoma this Saturday, Sept. 26.
The TexAnns head into this week's play 5-10 overall with a 1-1 mark in Lone Star Conference action. The 1-1 record comes following a 3-2 win over Texas Woman's at Wisdom Gym on Thursday and a 3-1 loss to Texas A&M-Commerce at home on Saturday.
The Bronchos are 6-9 overall and 0-2 in conference play. UCO dropped their first two LSC matches of the season to East Central (3-2) and Southeastern Oklahoma (3-1) last week. UCO's last win came back on Sept. 15 in Edmond, Okla. against Oklahoma City (3-1). The Bronchos are just 1- 7 in their previous eight matches.
UCO heads into Thursday's match with a commanding 13-3 lead in the all-time series, but Tarleton has taken two of the last three including last season's 3-1 win over the Bronchos in Stephenville. Tarleton is 0-6 all-time against UCO in Edmond, Okla. in a series that dates back to 1994.
The Bronchos are led by junior outside hitter Kristen Wilson with 170 kills. She is followed by Zuela Adom, also a junior outside hitter, with 148 kills. Senior setter Meagan Wedberg runs the Bronchos offense and leads the team with 515 assists on the season. Sophomore libero Ginger Gowen leads the team defensively with 234 digs with Wilson backing her up with 202 digs on the season. Junior middle blocker Courtney Whitlow heads up the Bronchos defense at the net with 35 total blocks this season. Adom leads the squad with 10 blocks solo.
The Bulldogs are 3-15 on the season and have lost their first two conference matches for a 0-2 record in the LSC. Along with last week's losses to ECU (3-0) and SOSU (3-0), the Bulldogs dropped a non-conference match to Southern Nazarene (3-0) on Monday and head into Thursday's match against Texas A&M-Kingsville having dropped their last four matches.
The TexAnns have won their previous two matches over SWOSU and lead the all-time series 6-1 since it began in 2005. The Bulldogs lone win over the TexAnns came back on Aug. 25, 2007, in Russellville, Ark. Tarleton has played just two times in Weatherford, Okla., but the TexAnns have come out on top both times.
SWOSU is led offensively by their sophomore middle blocker Emily Walter who comes into this week's matches with 150 kills. Senior middle blocker Jenny Naramore follows with 143 kills. Running the Bulldogs offensive attack is senior setter Kristen Kaufman who leads her team with 469 assists on the season. Sophomore libero Kayla Bader leads the team with 248 digs. Naramore meanwhile leads the squad with 44 total blocks and 12 blocks solo.
For the TexAnns, senior middle blocker
Shay Gracy leads the way with 166 kills on the season and a .263 attacking percentage. The Stephenville native also leads the team in blocks with 47 total and 13 blocks solo. Junior outside hitter
Rachel Wolf is second on the team with 126 kills. Sophomore setter
Jessie Hartman, coming off back-to-back 50-plus assists performances, leads the team with 384 assists. The San Antonio native tops the squad with 12 service aces as well.

Shea McBrearty leads the team with 252 digs so far this season and is on record pace to break the single-season digs record that she set last season. She finished the 2008 season with 489 digs. Following a 25 dig performance last weekend against TAMUC, McBrearty moved into fourth all-time on Tarleton's career digs list. She now has 1,072 career digs after passing Lacey Adkisson's mark of 1,052 from 2000-03. The Dripping Springs native is now just 48 digs shy of taking sole possession of third place all-time.
