TexAnns volleyball welcomes Incarnate Word Saturday

STEPHENVILLE – The TexAnns will host Incarnate Word Saturday, Oct. 16 at 2 p.m. in Wisdom Gym.

With a 16-7 record this season, Tarleton has had its ups and downs, but they have been dominate at home, where they have won all eight matches. Saturday, the TexAnns will have a test in Lone Star Conference newcomers Incarnate Word, who are 7-8 on the year. Tarleton will look to gain a .500 record in conference play, going 3-4 so far this year, while Incarnate Word has a 4-3 conference mark in its first season in the LSC.

Tarleton is hitting a .205 percentage on the season, averaging 12.8 kills per game, 11.7 assists per game and 15 digs per game. They're led offensively by Rachel Wolf with 248 kills, followed by Flynn Harrell with 181 kills, Irelis Ilarraza with 147 kills and Stacie Murrah with 144 kills.

Jessie Hartman has assisted her fellow TexAnns 533 times this season, while Danielle Barker has contributed 282 assists.

Defensively, Catherine Cutbirth and Monica Hamel anchor the front line with 59 and 48 blocks respectively. Shea McBrearty leads Tarleton in digs with 333 on the year, while Hartman has recorded 171 digs.

The Cardinals have hit a .157 mark so far this season, while averaging 11.4 kills per game, 10.9 assists per game, and an astonishing 18.2 digs per game.

Incarnate Word's offense is captained by Stephanie Bonura, who has 119 kills, and Chera Smith, who has 118 kills. Danielle Suarez leads the team with 284 assists, while Sarah Cardenas has added 209 assists.

Daniella Vidaurri and Anna Herr are tied for the Cardinals' lead in blocks with 35 apiece, while Lydia Werchan and Spencer Ladd both have over 200 digs on the year.

Saturday will be Autograph Day for TexAnn fans, with the volleyball team signing autographs after the match. It will also be Camp Day, so any fan wearing a Volleyball camp T-shirt will get in free to the game, which starts at 2 p.m.
