STEPHENVILLE – Tarleton's volleyball team will welcome the Southeastern Oklahoma Savage Storm Saturday, Sept. 25 at 2 p.m. in Wisdom Gym.
The TexAnn's will look to improve on their stellar 11-2 record, and hope to reach .500 in conference play, where they are 1-2 this season.
Rachel Wolf fronts a potent Tarleton attack, recording 158 kills so far this season, averaging 3.36 kills per game.
Flynn Harrell has contributed 97 kills, while
Irelis Ilarraza has 95 kills.
Jessie Hartman has been the main facilitator with 312 assists, with
Danielle Barker tossing in 187 assists.
As a team, the TexAnns are hitting a .208 percentage, with 13.1 kills per game, 12.2 assists per game and 78 aces this year. Six different players have at least 60 kills on the season.
Defensively,
Shea McBrearty leads Tarleton with 188 digs, while
Rachel Wolf has collected 94 digs.
Catherine Cutbirth has 42 blocks on the season, including five solos. The TexAnns are averaging 15.1 digs per game, as opposed to the competitions' 13.5 per game.
Tarleton is undefeated this season at home (5-0) and the Savage Storm will have to have a strong outing if they hope to end the TexAnns' dominance.
Southeastern Oklahoma is just 2-8 on the season, but has won their only road game, a 3-2 victory over Missouri S&T on Sept. 11.
The Savage Storm are hitting a substandard .155 percentage this year, and are averaging just 9.9 kills per game and 9.4 assists per game. They have recorded a total of 51 service aces, while committing 61 errors.
Lunden Azuara leads Southeastern Oklahoma with 99 kills, nine aces, and 119 digs on the year, while Alex Cassell, who has contributed 139 assists, and Chelsea White, who has 125 assists, head the supporting cast.
The all-time series between the two schools has the TexAnns leading with 10 wins to the Storm's six. Southeastern Oklahoma won their last meeting 3-0 on Oct. 17, 2009 in Durant, Okla.
