ON THE ROAD AGAIN
The Tarleton Texans will hit the road again for the second of back-to-back long road trips when they face West Texas A&M on Wednesday, Jan. 26 at 8 p.m. in Canyon. Tarleton just returned from a trip to Eastern New Mexico (with a 77-53 victory).

ON THE ROAD
Tarleton is perfect at home this season (10-0); however, the Texans have struggled in their five road games so far, going 3-3. Though, Tarleton has won their last three road contests.
Earlier this season, the Texans played four games in nine days, including three on the road. During that road trip, Tarleton traveled approximately 1,021 miles in seven days through Oklahoma and Texas.
The longest stretch, however, is when Tarleton went to Portales, N.M. last weekend, returns Saturday night, then goes to Canyon next Tuesday and returns Wednesday night. The Texans will travel over 1,500 miles in that stretch while trying to improve their road record to one that is of the winning variety.
PLAYING IN THE SOUTH
The Texans are 86-44 in the South Division since the LSC split into divisions in 1997-98. Tarleton played in the North Division in 2002-03, 2003-04 and 2004-05. In division play, the Texans are 117-49 in that span.
Since the 2001-02 season, Tarleton is 87-25 in division play, including a 56-20 mark in the South Division.
PLAYING THE SOUTH
The Texans are 94-51 against LSC South teams since the 2001-02 season, a .646 winning percentage. That includes the three years Tarleton competed in the North Division, but still played the South teams in crossover or tournament action.
Since joining the LSC, Tarleton is 152-118 against current LSC teams since the 1994-95 season.
WIN STREAK
A win at West Texas A&M would tie Tarleton's seventh longest winning streak (six) since the 2001-02 season. The feat has been done three other times. The longest winning streak is 16 (2003-04), followed by 14 (twice), 12 (2005-06), 10 (2001-02), eight (2002-03) and seven (2009-10).
PLAYER OF THE WEEK x2
Tarleton's
Corin Henry was named the Lone Star Conference South Division Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this season.
Henry led the team in scoring this week, averaging 22.0 points per game as he helped the Texans to wins over No. 9 Incarnate Word (69-66) and at Eastern New Mexico (77-53). Henry scored 26 points in the win over the nationally-ranked Cardinals, shooting .563 from the floor and .778 from the charity stripe while throwing in four rebounds and five assists with a steal. He then had 18 points at ENMU, averaging .500 from the floor and .800 from the arc. He had a steal and an assist on Saturday. The Texan averaged .536 from the floor, .375 from the arc and .786 from the stripe while averaging 3.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game.
DEFENSE, DEFENSE
The Tarleton defense is ranked No. 1 in the nation scoring defense, allowing opponents to score an average of 52.4 points per game heading into this week. Tarleton is No. 3 in the nation in field goal percentage defense, holding opponents to 36.9 percent from the field.
Thanks to the defense, Tarleton has the No. 3 scoring margin in the country with a plus-24.3 margin.
FORCING TURNOVERS
Tarleton is forcing lots of turnovers this season, but giving away less. The Texans are No. 3 in the nation in turnover margin with a 7.3 margin in favor of the purple and white.
Part of turnovers is taking the ball away, and the Texans are No. 28 in the country in doing so, averaging 9.5 steals per game.
REBOUND THAT BALL
Heading into this week, the Texans are No. 11 in the nation in rebound margin (8.1). The Texans have outrebounded every foe this season except Cameron, Texas A&M-Commerce and Abilene Christian.
Tarleton is outrebounding opponents by an average of 37.8 to 29.6.
LEADING THE TEXANS
The Texans are led by
Corin Henry with 14.1 points per game. He is the only Texan in double figures in the balanced attack as
Carrington Tankson and
Devon Hills are tied for second with 9.1 points per game each.
Wes Dipprey's 6.8 rebounds per game leads the team with
Donta Smith second with 4.3 boards per outing.
Fabian Wilson leads the team with 11 blocks while Henry tops the squad with 30 steals and 64 assists.
SOUTH PLAY
The Texans are led by

Wes Dipprey with 11.3 points per game. Dipprey leads the team with 8.5 boards per game during South Division play as Tarleton is outrebounding foes 34.5 to 28.8 and outscoring them 70.0 to 54.2. Tarleton is averaging .476 from the floor, .444 from the arc and .714 from the charity stripe while holding opponents to .387, .304 and .600, respectively.
OUTSCORING FOES
The Texans are outscoring foes 76.8 to 52.4. The Texans' biggest win of the season came against Arlington Baptist – 108-30 (78 points). The smallest margin of victory is four at home against Texas A&M-Commerce (70-66).
SHOOTING TEXANS
The Texans are averaging .464 from the floor, .388 from the arc and .687 from the charity stripe while opponents are shooting .369 from the field, .327 from the arc and .647 from the line.

IN THE CONFERENCE
The Texans are first in the LSC in scoring defense, scoring margin, field goal percentage defense, three-point field goal percentage, turnover margin (+7.31), offensive rebounds (13.8), rebounding defense and rebounding margin (8.1). Tarleton is also first in defensive rebounding percentage (.734) and in offensive rebounding percentage (.396) and third in rebounding offense (37.8) and in assist/turnover ratio (1.0).
SCOUTING THE BUFFS
The Buffaloes are 15-2 overall and 2-2 in the Lone Star Conference South Division. WTAMU is coming off a 71-54 win at home against Abilene Christian before downing Angelo State on the road, 62-59. The Buffs are 8-1 at home this year with its lone loss coming to Eastern New Mexico, 73-70 The other conference loss was at Incarnate Word (78-61).
The Buffs are led by LaDarius Hall with 12.5 points per game followed by Rod Little (11.6) and Joe Mincey (11.1). Jacquiese Holcombe leads the team with 5.5 rebounds per game while Courtney Carr is second with 5.4 boards per outing.
WTAMU is shooting .481 from the field, .331 from the arc and .718 from the line while opponents are shooting .414 from the floor, .328 from the arc and .640 from the stripe. The Buffs are outscoring foes 72.8 to 62.4 and outrebounding them 35.7 to 30.5.
ALL-TIME SERIES
West Texas A&M leads the all-time series, 20-14. Tarleton has claimed the last four meetings, including an 82-68 win in Bartlesville, Okla. in the second round of the LSC tournament last season on March 5, 2010. Tarleton is 6-9 in Canyon under head coach
