- Box Score

STEPHENVILLE - Tarleton State (12-8, 6-2) got back in the win column Thursday night in its first home action since Sept. 17 with a sweep of Texas A&M-Kingsville.

The TexAnns wasted no time in disposing of the Javelinas, beginning in the first set.

Tarleton opened the match with a pair of kills by Flynn Harrell and Nikki McNorton as well as a service ace by Emily Klein to lead 3-0.

The kills kept coming for Tarleton as Harrell landed five more over the rest of the set, pacing Tarleton's 25-17 victory.

The TexAnns opened the second set with a 9-2 run on the strength of kills by Harrell, Stacie Murrah, Breawn Waynes and freshman Jasmyne Brown.

TAMUK got to within five (10-5) after a brief 3-1 run, but Tarleton answered with five straight points to extend its lead.

Trailing 15-5, an attack error by Brown started a 10-4 run by the Javelinas to bring the score to 19-15 before a Harrell kill gave Tarleton the serve.

Lacy Hodges didn't give it back as the freshman served up the final five points.

In the final set, the teams swapped the first 11 points with Tarleton holding a slight 6-5 lead before the TexAnns struck for a 9-6 run to force a Kingsville timeout at 15-11.

Out of the timeout, Kingsville kept the score manageable until three straight kills by Harrell, Katie Covell and McNorton extended the TexAnn lead.

Tarleton went on to win the set 25-19.

Harrell led the TexAnns with 15 kills on 28 attacks - a kill percentage of 43 - while McNorton and Waynes each added six.

Danielle Barker and Jessie Hartman topped Tarleton in assists with 15 and 14, respectively, while Klein led the team with 12 digs.

Tarleton continues its current five-game homestead Saturday against Incarnate Word at 2 p.m. in Wisdom Gym.

All fans attending the game are encouraged to wear white, with a prize being awarded to the fan wearing the most white.
