AUSTIN – The Tarleton TexAnns are four strokes back after the first day of competition in the St. Edward's Invitational in Austin. Tarleton shot a 314 and is trailing leader Incarnate Word (310).
The TexAnns are led by Carla Cooper who is second with a 74 while Katy Ward is tied for fourth with a 76 and Sharon Lau is tied for sixth with a 77. Jacqueline Lau and Melanie Tham are both tied for 50th with an 87.
The teams had to battle gusts of up to 30 miles per hour Monday at Grey Rock Golf Club.
Tarleton is ahead of host St. Edward's (316), Redlands Community College (317), Central Oklahoma (330), Angelo State (332), Hawaii-Hilo (333), Sonoma State (334), West Texas A&M (336), Dallas Baptist (340), Newman (342), Cameron (343), Academy of Art (345), Arkansas-Fort Smith (351), Southwestern Oklahoma (352) and St. Mary's (359).
Round two is set to start Tuesday with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m.
