TexAnns lead Doc Housewright Invitational after first day

- Round One Results

GRANBURY - The No. 3 Tarleton TexAnn golf team has a five-stroke lead at the Doc Housewright Tarleton Invitational after the first day of competition at Harbor Lakes Golf Club in Granbury.

The TexAnns shot a 306 on day one to finish ahead of St. Edward's (311), Grand Canyon (312), California, Pa. (316) and Northeastern State (319).

Tarleton's Carla Cooper leads all individuals with a 74, and she is one stroke ahead of SEU's Ryanne Haddow (75) and GCU's Jacqueline Sneddon (75).

Sharon Lau and Katy Ward are both tied for No. 6 in the tournament after shooting a first day 77. Jacqueline Lau is tied for ninth with a 78 and Melanie Tham is tied at No. 46 with an 84. Candace Brister-Rose is tied at No. 46 as an individual medalist with an 84 while Sarah Fulfer is tied at No. 53 with an 85.

Academy of Art (328), Central Oklahoma (329), Newman (330), Cal State-Monterey Bay (330), Western Washington (334), Nebraska-Omaha (334), Angelo State (334), Midwestern State (339), St. Martin's (340), Cameron (342), Chico State (343), Hawaii-Hilo (345), West Texas A&M (348), East Central (348),  Southwestern Oklahoma State (362) and Texas A&M Kingsville (385) round out the field.

The 21 teams will return to action on Tuesday, April 12 with the first tee times set for 8 a.m. Tham will start off for the TexAnns' five-member squad at 9:20 from the first hole while Fulfer (9:36) and Brister-Rose (9:52) will tee off from No. 10.
