No. 18 Texans survive 10-inning contest with Rams, 7-5

- Box Score

FORT WORTH - The No. 18 Tarleton baseball team defeated Texas Wesleyan in extra innings on Andrew Kapple's two-run single in the top of the 10th.

The Texans improve to 29-7 on the season and push their winning streak to 13 straight games.

Tarleton got on the board in the top of the first when Zane Hensley drove in Junnior Dishmey to put the Texans up 1-0.  The Rams answered with a run of their own in the bottom half of the inning though to lock the game at 1-1.

Texas Wesleyan would be the first team to break the tie with a run in the third, but Tarleton answered with Tim Rainey's sacrifice fly in the fourth.

WIth a single run in the fifth and two runs in the sixth, the Rams took a 4-2 lead and put the Texans in hole heading into the later stages of the game.

Tarleton's rally began in the seventh when Kapple stroked an RBI double down the leftfield line, plating Travis Hayes from first.  Ethan Stuckly gave the Texans their second run of the inning when he reached on a fielder's choice.

Trailing by one with just three outs left for Tarleton to tie the game, the Texans needed to score at least once in the top of the ninth if they were going to escape Fort Worth without a loss.

Landon McCall provided that run with an RBI single to left-center, scoring Rainey for the tying run and sending the game into extra innings.

The contest would not last much longer though, as Tarleton won the game with two runs just an inning later on Kapple's clutch, two-run single to left-center.

The Rams had one last chance to get some runs of their own and extend the game, but Ryan Turner blanked Texas Wesleyan and gave Tarleton their 28th win of the season.

Turner (5-2) earned the victory after tossing three shut-out innings, while striking out four.

Patrick Stanley (3-1) was saddled with the loss and gave up the last three runs of the game.

Kapple led the Texans on the day, going 2-for-2 with three RBI's.  McCall, Hensley and Rainey contributed Tarleton's other RBI's, while Chris Casazza and Rainey both had two-hit games.

The Texans return to action Friday when they take on Central Oklahoma in Edmond, Okla.
