STEPHENVILLE - Tarleton women's basketball head coach Ronnie Hearne announced the signing of Peyton Adamson Monday for next season's recruiting class.

Peyton joins her older sister Shelby at Tarleton after a year at University of Missouri-Kansas City.  Like her sibling TexAnn, Adamson was a well-known player coming out of high school before heading to UMKC for her freshman season. In high school, she was a three-time All-State and All-Region selection and terrorized opponents as a member of Rockwall High School's conference and state champion squad.

The youngest Adamson holds school records for career points (2,875), scoring average (29.1), three-pointers (420), free-throw percentage (90.1%), and single game totals in three's (10) and points (48).

She was just as productive in the classroom, getting named Most Outstanding Student at Rockwall by teachers and was a member of multiple student organizations.

“We are extremely excited to have a player like Peyton,” said Wilson. “She is a high energy, super competitive player. She loves the game of basketball and loves to win, which is a great combination. Her three-point shooting ability will spread our offense and give it another dimension. Her presence on the floor will change the way people guard our team.”

Adamson joins Cheyenne Berry, Giorgia Stringer and Lindsey Mann as the newest TexAnns.

The TexAnn basketball program is coming of a historical season and a Lone Star Conference South Division title.  They were NCAA Regional Semifinalists and will look to improve on their 25-5 season. With the combination of the current players and the talented recruits coming in, Tarleton will definitely be a force to be reckoned with in 2011-12.
