ABILENE - The No. 33 Tarleton tennis team made it to the second round of the South Central region tournament before falling to No. 1 seed and host Abilene Christian Monday evening.

The TexAnns had trouble getting an upper-hand as the Wildcats took two of the three doubles matches. 

The Tarleton duo of Melanie Barnes and Adrianna Jaskova gave the TexAnns a victory with an 8-3 decision over ACU's Cassie Carver and Hannah Kelley in No. 3 doubles.

ACU only needed three more wins though in order to seal up a victory and a trip to Florida for the next round and were able to get that in the No. 1, No. 5 and No. 6 singles matches.  The other two singles matches went unfinished as Tarleton was already eliminated.

After a 9-11 season, the TexAnns have much to be proud of as they send off two seniors, Jaskova and Mariana Freitas, and look forward to improving with four returning freshman next year.
