STEPHENVILLE - The Tarleton volleyball team will travel to Topeka, Kan. this weekend to compete in the Washburn Classic Friday and Saturday.
The TexAnns are 9-5 on the year and 5-1 in the Lone Star Conference. The break from league play though will not be an easy one, as Tarleton takes on some very tough competition.
Tarleton will face Nebraska-Omaha (2-14) at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 30 and No. 26 Truman State (6-5) at 4:30 p.m. later that day. On Saturday, the TexAnns take on No. 5 and host Washburn (12-1) at 1 p.m. and Southwest Baptist (6-7) at 5 p.m.
This season, Tarleton is hitting a .167 percentage while holding opponents to a .121 mark. The TexAnns average 12.1 kills, 11.4 assists, and 15.2 digs per set.
Flynn Harrell is leading the offense with 201 kills with
Nikki McNorton contributing 149 kills and a .261 percentage. McNorton also leads Tarleton defensively, recording 80 blocks on the year already.
Jessie Hartman, the TexAnns career assist leader, has added to her total with 355 assists, followed by
Danielle Barker, who has added 227 assists.
Harrell also leads the team in digs with 155, while Hartman has chipped in 147 digs and
Lacy Hodges has posted 135 digs.
