LAWTON, OK – With a four-set win over Cameron (7-14, 2-8), Tarleton has won three straight and seven of their last eight matches following a 25-9, 28-26, 19-25, 25-14 win over the Aggies Friday night.

This also marks the seventh straight win for the TexAnns over Cameron dating back to Oct. 16, 2008.

In the opening game of the match, Tarleton showed no mercy on the Aggies with a 25-9 thrashing to begin the match.

After jumping out to a quick 4-3 lead, a bad set by the Aggies game the ball to Tarleton and Nikki McNorton served up four straight points to force a Cameron timeout at 9-3.

After that, Cameron only scored back-to-back points one other time – 5-12 and 6-12 – during the set. Tarleton put together a 2-0 run, a 5-0 run and three different 3-0 runs including the game-ending three points on two Aggie errors and a kill by Jazmine Green.

In the second game, Cameron put up a fight by taking an early 6-1 lead.

Green landed a kill to start a 7-2 Tarleton run to knot the score at 8-8. The teams stayed neck-and-neck over the rest of the second game, with neither team leading by more than two at any time.

With Cameron one point away from taking the set, Kelsey Raglin landed a kill and an Aggie attack error shifted the momentum back in Tarleton's favor to force an Aggie timeout. At 26-26, a pair of Cameron miscues gave the set to Tarleton at 28-26.

In the third set, Cameron used a 12-9 run over the end of the set to overcome a slim 13-14 deficit to force a fifth set with a 25-19 win.

In the final set, Tarleton led from the get-go after jumping out to a quick 6-5 lead before a kill by Katie Covell started a 5-0 TexAnn run to extend the lead to 11-5. After an Aggie kill broke the streak, Tarleton struck for another 4-0 run to force a Cameron timeout at 15-6.

Cameron got the deficit back to 19-13, but Tarleton ended the match on a 6-1 run – including kills by Meg Umbel and Raglin to seal the win.

McNorton led the TexAnns with 13 kills while Katie Covell and Meg Umbel added double figures in kills with 10 each. Covell also added 18 digs.

Danielle Barker led the team with 49 assists while Emily Klein led Tarleton with 25 digs. Lacy Hodges (16) and Raglin (12) – to go along with Klein and Covell – also cracked double figures in digs.

The TexAnns will make their second stop in their current three-game road trip with a 2 p.m. match at Midwestern State tomorrow afternoon.
