OLYMPIA, Wash. – The Tarleton TexAnn golf team picked up its first win of the 2012-13 season with a 24-stroke victory at the St. Martin's Invitational held at the Olympia Golf and Country Club in Olympia, Wash., on Saturday.
The TexAnns carded a team score 310 (18-over par) on Saturday – 16 strokes better than Friday's round – on their way to a two-day total 636 (52-over par). The TexAnns finished 24 shots better than British Columbia who finished second overall after shooting a combined 660 (76-over par) over the past two days.
TexAnn golfer Isabell Jimenez-Perea shot a one-under (72) round on Saturday to come back from four strokes down on Friday to win the individual title. She carded a two-day score of seven-over par (153) to pick-up her second individual title in as many tournaments.
Jacqueline Lau shot a two-over par (75) round on Saturday to finish second-place overall with a combined score of 10-over par (156), while
Jessica Pickwick finished in a tie for third-place during the two-day tournament with a combined score of 12-over par (158) to give the TexAnns the top three places individually.
Sharon Lau's two-day total of 23-over par (169) was good enough to tie for 17
th-place overall and
Sarah Fulfer finished the tournament with a score of 27-over par (173) to garner a tie for 25
th-place.
Tarleton will turn around to compete in the Western Washington Invitational, which begins with a practice round tomorrow at Bellingham Golf and Country Club in Bellingham, Wash. The two-day tournament will then tee-off on Monday, Oct. 8 and conclude on Tuesday, Oct. 9.
