STEPHENVILLE, Texas – Tarleton head baseball coach
Bryan Conger announced that Noel Nevarez, a junior college transfer from Murray State College (Okla.) has signed to play with the Texans beginning next fall.
Nevarez, a 5-9 outfielder, graduated from Princeton High School in 2011 where he played earned both second and first team honors while playing for the Panthers. He was a two-time district Most Valuable Player (2010, 2011) and earned all-state accolades his senior season.
While attending Murray State, Nevarez was a second team all-conference selection as a freshman after hitting .399 on the year. This past season, Nevarez helped lead MSC to its first ever conference and World Series titles while hitting .377 with 15 home runs, 21 doubles, 67 runs batted in and a .704 slugging percentage.
Following MSC's postseason run, he was named a conference all-tournament selection and was then named the World Series MVP.
“Noel is one of the premier hitters in the country at the junior college level,” said Conger. He finished the year ranked in the top 10 in the country in eight different offensive categories and will make an immediate impact in our line up next season. We feel Noel will be a great addition to the middle of our line up and will fit in very well with the All-Conference/All-Region duo of
Alvaro Moreno and
Colten Boothe. We are extremely excited with Noel's decision to join us and look forward to getting him on campus and acclimated to being a Texan.”
