LAST TIME OUT
The TexAnns dropped their first home match of the season despite battling back from a 2-1 deficit to force a game five against St. Mary's. The TexAnns even rallied in the fifth set to take a 16-15 lead, but the Rattlers refused to go down as they answered with back-to-back points to claim the victory.
SERIES HISTORY
Texas A&M-Kingsville owns the all-time record against Tarleton 20-18, but since the 2006 season the TexAnns have been in control of the series. Tarleton has won eight of the last 11 meetings against the Javelinas dating back to Sept. 30, 2006.
LSC CHAMPIONSHIP QUARTERFINAL REMATCH
This is the first meeting between these two teams since Tarleton eliminated the Javelinas from the Lone Star Conference Championship Tournament in San Angelo last season. The match went to five sets and Stacie Murrah led the team with 14 kills while Danielle Barker had a double-double with 27 assists and 11 digs.
SCOUTING THE JAVELINAS
After starting the season 0-2, the Javelinas have turned things around by winning seven of their last 11 games, including two straight over Southwestern Oklahoma and Texas A&M International. The Javelinas have three hitters with over 100 kills on the season - Dedra Brown (128), Kelsey Washington (120) and Stephanie Jones (106) - while Kalani Giddens is nearly at 100 kills with 97 of her own. As a team, Kingsville averages 13.0 kills per set with a hitting percentage of .204.
COMING OFF CAREER HIGHS
Just a week removed from setting her career high in kills with 14 against Cameron, Jazmine Green continued her stellar play with a 17-kill performance Tuesday against St. Mary's. The senior has 39 kills over her last three contests. However, she wasn't the only TexAnn making noise Tuesday night. Katie Covell also set a new career-high with 17 kills while Danielle Barker's career-high 63 assists tied for the fifth-most in a Tarleton game all-time with Brooke McDowell.
MOVING UP THE NATIONAL LIST
After her 63-assist performance Tuesday night, Danielle Barker has moved up the national rankings for assists per set. The senior is now 33rd in the nation at 10.43 assists per set. Meanwhile, Emily Klein is also moving up the charts in digs. Klein's 5.25 digs per set has her at No. 27 in the nation.
BARKER EYES HARTMAN AS ALL-TIME ASSISTS LEADER
The senior from Amarillo enters the weekend with 480 assists on the season, giving her 2,606 for her career. Barker is currently 660 assists shy of tying her former teammate for the all-time lead in this category in the history of Tarleton volleyball. Barker is also 394 assists away from joining Hartman as the only two TexAnns to eclipse the 3,000 assists mark.
KLEIN CLOSING IN ON LISTER
Emily Klein is currently in third-place all-time on the Tarleton career digs list and is closing in on that second place spot - currently held by Sharon Lister with 1,463. Klein has 1,290 career digs, making her 173 digs shy of tying Lister's mark. Klein's former teammate, Shea McBrearty, is the school's all-time digs leader with 1,847.
SATURDAY'S GAME CANCELLED
Due to scheduling conflicts, Tarleton's originally scheduled game against Our Lady of the Lake Saturday has been cancelled.
UP NEXT FOR TARLETON
After a week off, Tarleton will return home next weekend for a Friday match against West Texas A&M and a Saturday afternoon match against Eastern New Mexico.
