AT A GLANCE
Tarleton (19-3, 9-1) will take a short break from Lone Star Conference action this weekend when the TexAnns travel north to Wichita, Kansas for a Saturday afternoon doubleheader against Lubbock Christian and Newman.

LAST TIME OUT
Tarleton took sole possession of first place in the Lone Star Conference standings by defeating Angelo State in four sets in front of a sold out crowd at Wisdom Gym Wednesday night. Tarleton had three players go for double-doubles, including Kenya Alexander with 12 kills and 10 blocks for her first one of the season. Hailey Roberts (24 kills, 12 digs) and Chandler Gow (49 assists, 11 digs) also had double-doubles.

TARLETON VS LUBBOCK CHRISTIAN
The TexAnns and Lady Chaps will square off in Newman's gym in Wichita, Kansas in the first meeting between the teams in over a decade. Lubbock Christian owns the all-time record 16-10 since the first meeting in 1985, but the last time these teams met was in 2004 – making Saturday's match the first of the Mary Schindler era.

TARLETON VS NEWMAN
After playing LCU at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, the TexAnns will turn around for the second game of their doubleheader against Newman. It will be the third meeting between Tarleton and the northern-most member of the Heartland Conference. The TexAnns won each of the first two games against the Jets – one in 2007 and the second last season – in five-set fashion.

NATIONAL POLL
The TexAnns received 16 votes in the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association poll, two more than they received in last week's poll. Angelo State received 44 votes. They are the only two Lone Star Conference teams to receive votes in the AVCA poll.

HISTORIC STREAK
The TexAnns are in the midst of an 11-game winning streak, which is the longest streak in program history in the NCAA era. The 1991 team won 12 in a row as an NAIA program. During the streak, the TexAnns have taken 33 of the 39 sets and won every match in four or less sets, including five sweeps.

LEAGUE LEADERS
Tarleton leads in five of the six categories listed by the Lone Star Conference. Meg Umbel is first in hitting percentage (.364), total blocks (93) and blocks per set (1.24). Hailey Roberts is tops in kills per set (6.17) – 2.08 more than second place – and aces per set (0.64). Chandler Gow is first in assists per set with 11.97. As a team, Tarleton leads the LSC in hitting percentage (.244), opponent hitting percentage (.136), assists per set (14.04), opponents assists per set (10.34), kills per set (14.75), opponents kills per set (10.89) and blocks per set (2.48).

LEADING THE NATION
Hailey Roberts continues to lead the nation in kills per set and total kills (481). Roberts' 6.17 kills per set are 1.26 more than second place and she has 101 more kills than second. The sophomore also has more kills than all Division I players except for one. As a team, Tarleton is second in the nation in assists per set (14.04) and third in kills per set (14.75)

COUNTDOWN TO 200
Mary Schindler, who is in her 11th season as the head coach of Tarleton, enters this game with 199 career wins as she moves closer to 200 all-time victories at the helm of the TexAnns. Schindler, who is the longest tenured coach in the history of the program, already owns the most wins by a coach in Tarleton history.

UP NEXT FOR TARLETON
Tarleton will remain on the road for a western road trip next weekend with a Friday night match in Portales against Eastern New Mexico and a Saturday afternoon visit to West Texas A&M.
