No. 1-seed TexAnns open LSC Tournament against ENMU

AT A GLANCE
Tarleton enters to Lone Star Conference Volleyball Championships as the No. 1 seed and tournament hosts as they take on the No. 8 seed Eastern New Mexico on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
 
LSC TOURNAMENT
The eight-team, single-elimination tournament consists of four first-round matches on Thursday, followed by two semifinal games on Friday evening and the championship match on Saturday. Teams will compete for the 2015 tournament championship.  In addition to claiming the title, the LSC tournament winner will receive the league's automatic berth into the NCAA Division II Volleyball Championship. All seven games will be streamed live free of charge through the LSC's GameCentral portal (http://portal.stretchinternet.com/lonestar).
 
LAST TIME OUT
The TexAnns swept Cameron to capture their first-ever Lone Star Conference title. Tarleton finished the regular season with six straight wins overall and 15 straight conference wins.
 
TARLETON VS EASTERN NEW MEXICO
The TexAnns swept the season series versus the Greyhounds (3-0, 3-2). Tarleton has won 15 of the last 17 games against ENMU, including seven sweeps. The Greyhounds lead the all-time series 25-16.
 
SCHOOL RECORD
Tarleton finished the season with a 25-5 record and set a new school record for wins in a season. Last season the TexAnns went 24-8.
 
LOOKING TO REPEAT
Last season the TexAnns won the LSC Conference Tournament Championship for the first time in program history. Tarleton defeated A&M-Kingsville (3-0), West Texas A&M (3-2) and Angelo State (3-2) en route to the title.
 
ROBERTS ON THE ALL-TIME LIST
Hailey Roberts continues to etch herself into the Tarleton record books every week. The sophomore from Cedar Park recorded 18 kills against Cameron for a total of 1,154 in her two-year Tarleton career. Roberts is 41 kills away from passing Kathy Buckler (1,194) for sixth all time.
 
MOVING UP THE SINGLE-SEASON RECORD LIST
Several TexAnns have already or are on the verge of moving into the top 10 individual statistical seasons in the history of TexAnn Volleyball. Hailey Roberts has pounded 645 kills this season, which is already the most by a single player in a season, and she is closing in on the Lone Star Conference record for kills in a season, which is 735 by West Texas A&M's Sarah Butler in 1999. Chandler Gow has the second-most assists in a single season by a TexAnn, entering the weekend with 1,256. Gow is 78 assists away from passing Christina Ortiz (1,333) for most all time. Mean while Kenya Alexander (146) moved into No. 9 on the single-season blocks list while Meg Umbel is looking to crack the top 10 with 117 blocks.
 
PLAYERS OF THE WEEK SWEEP
Hailey Roberts, Ayssa Garcia, and Chandler Gow were named the Offensive, Defensive, and Setter of the Week, respectively, Tuesday afternoon in the final weekly release of the season by the Lone Star Conference. Its is the fourth award of the season for Roberts and Gow, respectively, and the second for Garcia. The TexAnns have received a total of 12 LSC weekly awards with Alexander claiming two defensive awards and Meg Umbel winning one.
 
UP NEXT FOR TARLETON
If the TexAnns defeat Eastern New Mexico they will play the winner of A&M-Kingsville and Cameron on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
