Tarleton duo wrap up final day of ASU Spring Break Multi meet

SAN ANGELO – Sarah Brown set a personal best in the heptathlon finishing the meet with 3642 total points Thursday at LeGrand Stadium.
 
Sarah Brown, who is competing in her first outdoor season after sitting last season out with an injury, finished the Angelo State Spring Break Multi meet with the best total score by a heptathlete this season.
 
The women competed in four events Thursday and Brown had earned 2239 points after day one. The sophomore ran the 100m hurdles in 17.44, cleared 1.43m (4'-8.25") in the high jump, tossed the shot put 8.56m (28'-1") and sprinted the 200m in 27.01.
 
Day two saw Brown cover 4.84m (15'-10.5") in the long jump, throw the javelin 21.48m (70'-5.75") and run 2:40.14 in the 800m to finish 12th with 3642 total points.
 
Peyton Best finished wrapped up day-two action by running the 110m hurdles in 19.96, throwing the discus 33.45m (109'-9"), throwing the javelin 44.40m (145'-8"), running the 1500m in 4:58.97 and no heighted in the pole vault to finish the meet in eighth-place with a total score of 5249.
 
The Tarleton track and field teams will be back on the track Saturday March 21st at the Texas A&M-Commerce dual meet at Memorial Stadium in Commerce.
