- FINAL RESULTS HOUSTON – In the last regular season meet before the Lone Star Conference Championships, Tarleton returned to Stephenville with 14 top-10 finishes, including two new school records.
The TexAnns started the meet on a strong note in the 4x100m relay, shaving off .29 hundredths of a second from the school record that was set last week by the same group of athletes to finish third overall in 46.12 –
Deylinn Garrett,
Euphemia Edem,
Robbie Clarke,
DeAijha Hicks-Boyce. The TexAnns relay is currently ranked No. 9 in Division II.
All-American
Chase Rathke would set a season and personal best time in the 800m recording a second-place finish (1:50.07) in a down to the wire race behind Luis Romero of Texas A&M-Commerce who won the half-mile event in 1:50.03. Rathke is currently ranked No. 9 in Division II.
Tylo Farrar would claim second in the 3000m steeplechase clocking a season best 11:19.66 in only her second steeple race of the season.
In the field it was
Euphemia Edem who highlighted action for Tarleton. The four-time Lone Star Conference women's field athlete of the week continued to leave her mark in the Tarleton record books, this time in the triple jump.
Edem would finish the day with a best jump of 12.88m (42'-3.25") to break the 11-year-old record of 41' 10.75" set by dual-sport athlete (volleyball, track and field) Lacey Adkisson back in 2004. Edem's jump is currently ranked No. 3 in Division II. The senior from Calabar, Nigeria now holds both indoor and outdoor records for both long jump and triple jump.
Wrapping up action from Houston for Tarleton would be the Texan and TexAnn 4x400m relays. The men would finish in third clocking a 3:11.00, while the TexAnn relay would complete the 1600m relay in a season best 3:45.44 that is currently ranked No. 13 in Division II.
Tarleton will take a two-week break from action before heading to San Angelo for the Lone Star Conference outdoor track and field championships May 7-9.
