SAN ANGELO - The No. 18 Texan and No. 23 TexAnn track and field teams would finish the day with 71 top-eight finishes, five first-place finishes, five provisional marks, two school records, and one automatic mark.
 
"After seeing the final results of the meet I think we had several impressive performances," said Tarleton head coach Pat Ponder. "We have a few kids that are banged up, but when we get those key performers back I feel we will be right where we want to be when it's time to head to the Lone Star Conference championships."
 
SPRINTS AND HURDLES
 
In the 100m, DeAijha Hicks-Boyce once again let the way for the TexAnns running a personal best and provisional time of 11.99 in a second-place finish. Close behind Hicks-Boyce in the 100m final were Euphemia Edem in third-place (12.04), Hollie Boyd who tied for sixth-place (12.42), and Ariel Ballard in eighth-place with a time of 12.78.
 
For the Texans, Phillip Hayes was the lone representative of the purple and white in the 100m qualifying for the final with a time of 10.94. The senior from Mineral Wells would go on to finish eighth in the final with a time of 13.92.
 
The 200m would once again see Hicks-Boyce lead the way for the TexAnns, this time in a season best time of 24.76 claiming second-place. Tarleton would also earn points in this race from Ballard (25.28), Garrett (25.75), and Leslie Zupanic (26.36) who would finish fourth, sixth, and seventh, respectively.
 
Gilson Umunnakwe (21.70) and Hayes (22.22) would add to the Texan point total with third and sixth-place finishes of their own.
 
The 400m would see three Texans and three TexAnns make it to the finals of the one lap event.  Terrance Gross would take the win for the men in a season best and provisional time of 47.86, while teammates Umunnakwe (49.68) and Clarencio Guerrero (49.95) would claim fifth and sixth, respectively.
 
Jasmine Owens finished the day as the top quarter miler for the TexAnns with a time of 1:00.10 followed closely by Zupanic (1:00.46) and LaDaria Nelson (1:02.53) in sixth and seventh-place.
 
In the 100m hurdles it was Garrett as the top finisher for the TexAnns crossing the line in a personal best time of 14.53 (third-place), while Randall Kadlacek would claim fifth-place in a time of 14.59 in the 110m hurdles.
 
In the 400m intermediate hurdles Molly Money took sixth-place with a time of 1:09.32. Blake Eschbach, Dalton Stidham and Kadlacek would finish fourth, fifth, and seventh, respectively, clocking times of 55.22, 55.86, and 56.94. Stidham's time of 55.86 is a personal best for the freshman from Boyd.
 
DISTANCE AND RELAYS
On the track for the 800m was All-American Chase Rathke who won the event in a provisional time of 1:52.18. Representing the TexAnns in the 800m was Haley Dennard who would claim seventh-place in a time of 2:42.11.
 
 
The 1500m would see a total of eight Tarleton athletes chip in points as four Texans and four TexAnns would finish inside the top-eight.
 
For the Texans, All-American Dylan Willett (4:02.53) was the top finisher recording a second-place finish followed by Miles Joslin (4:06.41), Peyton Heinig (4:08.22), and Luke Scribner (4:13.56) who finished sixth, seventh, and eighth, respectively. Willett and Joslin's performances were both season best times,
 
The 15oom for the women would finish with Tylo Farrar taking second in 4:53.65, followed by Lauren Finley (5:07.85), Dennard (5:11.04), and Audrey Shelton (5:36.20) who finished third, fifth, and seventh, respectively.
 
The 5000m would see Heinig (15:40.73), Joslin (16:07.88), and Scribner (16:13.39) all return to the track to finish first, third, and fourth.
 
In the first event of the day, Andrew Clark (35:01.02), Robert Pereia (35:25.95), and Mason Wrobel (38:48.27) would take second, third, and sixth-place finished in the 10000m.
 
Running the steeplechase for the second time in his career Thursday was senior Thorne Pettigrew along with teammate Stefan Campos who would be running the race for the first time in his career. The duo would finish first and fourth, as Pettigrew would record a time of 10:19.01 followed by Campos' 11:36.82.
 
In the first event of the finals, the TexAnns would claim two spots inside the top-eight in the 4x100m relay. Garrett, Edem, Ballard, and Hicks-Boyce would carry the baton to a meet best time of 47.09 while the combination of Boyd, Robbie Clarke, Mia Henry, and Beverly Coleman would finish fifth in a time of 48.42.
 
In the men's 4x100m relay final the foursome of Cornelius Blair, Hayes, Conner Wilkes, and Cade Hitzfeld would complete the 400m race in 42.19 to take fifth-place.
 
The last event of the day, the 4x400m relay, would see four Tarleton relays score points as each Tarleton team had teo relays finish inside the top-eight.
 
For the TexAnns, Tarleton "A" – Shelby Greenwalt, Nelson, Ballard, Owens – would finish in fourth-place clocking a season best time of 3:55.10, while Tarleton"B" – Jasmine Lewis, Clarke, Money, Meagan Uriegas-Stevens – would take eighth-place in a time of 4:12.10.
 
The Texan "A" team – Gross, Guerrero, Cameron Krc, Umunnakwe – recorded a provisional and season best time of 3:13.18 on their way to a second-place finish while Tarleton "B" – Ryan Huntly, Marquis Thompson, Eschbach, Everett James – would finish in 3:17.47 to take fifth-place.
 
 
THROWS AND JUMPS
 
Starting off the day on a high note in the field events was senior Kenny Odunaiya who broke his own school record in the hammer throw. Odunaiya, who set the school record last season, would finish with a best throw of 51.67m (169'-6") to break the school record by over four feet and claim second-place. Also competing in the hammer throw were Brianna Johnson (45.78m/150'-2"), and Danyelle Dillard (40.32m/132'-3") who finished third and eighth, respectively.
 
Back in the ring again, this time for shot put, was Odunaiya who would finish the competition in second-place with an NCAA provisional best throw of 15.57m (51'-1"). Ramon Lee would finish in sixth with a best throw of 14.57m (47'-9.75").
 
For the TexAnns, Dillard would finish with a provisional mark of 14.02m (46'-0") to take second-place, followed by Marissa Westbrook 12.49m (40'-11.75") and Brianna Johnson 11.61m (38'-1.25") finishing fifth and seventh, respectively.
 
Ramon Lee would finish as the lone Texan to crack the top eight in the discus finishing the day with a best throw of 47.95m (157'-3") to take fourth-place.
 
True freshmen Mikala Booher and Roxana Hernandez would finish fourth and fifth in the high jump, both clearing 1.56m (5'-1.25").
 
Women's javelin would see Sarah Vann finish second (32.19m/105'-7") while teammate Leanne Flores would take eighth with a best throw of 25.88m (84'-11").
 
Vann would be back in action in the pole vault, finishing third with a best vault of 3.40m (11'-1.75") followed by Alexandra Fuselier in sixth (3.10m/10'-2"). For the Texans William Carlton would finish fifth with a best vault of 4.61m (15'-1.5").
 
All-American Euphemia Edem stole the show in the long jump, finishing with an NCAA automatic qualifying mark of 6.18m (20'-3.5"), breaking the 37-year-old record of Michele Dunn (19'-9.5") that was set back in back in 1978 to take first-place. Joining Edem in the finals of the long jump was Andrea Ibe who finished fifth with a best jump of 5.39m (17'-8.25"). Edem now holds the indoor and outdoor records in the long jump.
 
Grant Russell finished as the top Texan in the long jump finishing eighth with a best jump of 6.75m (22'-1.75").
 
Triple jump would see Andrea Ibe as the top performer for the purple and white finishing fourth with a best jump of 11.18m (36'-8.25") followed by Booher who recorded a best jump of 10.94m (35'-10.75").
 
Denzel Brown would take fourth for the Texans bounding his way to a 12.98m (42'-7").
 
Tarleton will host the Tarleton State Tri-Meet April 11 at Oscar Frazier track in Memorial Stadium.
