AFCA COACH TO CURE MD
The Tarleton Football coaching staff will take part in the annual Coach to Cure MD campaign when the Texans take on West Texas A&M in Canyon Saturday night. Coach to Cure MD is an annual game-day charity between the American Football Coaches Association and ParentProject Muscular Dystrophy. On the same week, AFCA member college coaches from across the nation will don Coach to Cure MD patches on the sidelines. The AFCA expects over 11,000 coaches to participate this season. While the coaches support the cause, fans are encouraged to engage in the charity as well. Football fans can donate to research by visiting www.coachtocuremd.org or by texting the word CURE to 90999, which will make a $5 donation on their next phone bill.

ABOUT THE TEXANS
Tarleton is riding high after a defensive showcase led the Texans to a 35-5 win over Angelo State in last weekend's Lone Star Conference opener. Joseph Sadler leads the Tarleton offense as the senior running back recorded his second consecutive 100-yard rushing performance last week with 151 yards on the ground and a touchdown, meanwhile Zed Woerner has taken a firm grasp of the starting quarterback position by playing every offensive snap over the last two games, going 35-60 with five touchdowns and one interception over that stretch. The Texan defense held Angelo State to 222 yards of total offense and held a full-time LSC opponent to under 10 points for the first time since Oct. 24, 2009 (13-6, ACU) with the win last weekend. The last time Tarleton held anyone to less than 10 points was Oct. 25, 2014 when Tarleton defeated LSC football affiliate McMurry 64-7. The Texans are leading the Lone Star Conference with 14 sacks so far this season.

ABOUT THE BUFFS
West Texas A&M will make its home debut on a short week after a weather delay forced the Buffs and UT Permian Basin to wait from Saturday night to Sunday morning before playing last weekend's conference opener. The Buffs are averaging 343.3 total yards per game this season, led by QB Ethan Brinkley with 785 passing yards and three receivers with over 100 receiving yards in three games. This is the first home game of the season in Canyon after the Buffs opened the season with a road loss at Azusa Pacific and back-to-back road wins against No. 19 Colorado State-Pueblo and UT Permian Basin.

SERIES HISTORY
Tarleton and West Texas A&M have met 24 times since 1990 and the Texans have won 11 of them. Tarleton got things started by winning the first three meetings before WT answered by winning five of the next six – the only Tarleton win over that stretch came under head coach Todd Whitten in 1996. When Whitten returned in 2000, so did the Tarleton wins. The Texans won the next five over the Buffs during Whitten's second tenure. The Buffs won eight straight from 2005-12 before the Texans pulled off one of the most memorable comebacks in school history by rallying from a 24-0 halftime deficit to beat the Buffs 31-27 in Stephenville on Oct. 12, 2013.

UP NEXT FOR TARLETON
The Texans will return home for back-to-back games against the league's newest rivals, beginning with UT Permian Basin Saturday, October 1 at 7 p.m. on Family Weekend.
