Volleyball Match Day: Aug. 30 - Sept. 1

AT A GLANCE
The No. 18-ranked TexAnn Volleyball team will make its first road trip of the season for the Dixie State Invitational where they'll play four regional opponents. The TexAnns will play four games in three days in St. George, Utah before returning home to start Lone Star Conference play.
 
THE GAMES
Tarleton will open with tournament host Dixie State on Thursday, Aug. 30 at 8 p.m. CST. The TexAnns will then turn around to play UC-Colorado Springs on Friday at 12:30 p.m for its only game of the day. On Saturday, the TexAnns will play a doubleheader starting with Adams State at 10 a.m. and Arkansas-Fort Smith at 3 p.m.
 
NATIONAL SPOTLIGHT
Tarleton remains ranked No. 18 in the nation for the second week in a row by the American Volleyball Coaches Association. They are the only Lone Star Conference team ranked in the top 25, but Angelo State and West Texas A&M are receiving votes. Tarleton has been ranked in every poll since the final ranking of the 2016 season.

THE OPPONENT: DIXIE STATE
This will be the first-ever meeting between Tarleton and Dixie State. DSU is located in St. George, Utah and is in its first year competing in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, making this a regional match for the TexAnns. DSU enters the tournament 2-1 on the season.
 
THE OPPONENT: UC-COLORADO SPRINGS
Tarleton and UC-Colorado Springs have met seven times since the inaugural match in 1994. UCCS leads the series 5-2, having won the last three matches. It's the first meeting between the two regional teams since 2015. UCCS is 1-3 on the season.
 
THE OPPONENT: ADAMS STATE
Tarleton is set to play Adams State for only the second time in program history and the first time since 1999 where the TexAnns topped the Grizzlies 3-1. ASU, located in Alamosa, Colorado, is 2-2 on the season.
 
THE OPPONENT: ARKANSAS-FORT SMITH
Tarleton and Arkansas-Fort Smith are meeting for the fifth time in program history when they close out the tournament. UAFS holds the series lead at 3-1 with all four matches coming at a neutral site. Arkansas-Fort Smith is 4-1 on the season.
  
CHASING PROGRAM HISTORY
Tarleton enters the tournament one game below .500 (666-667) for the all-time record of the program. Led by 14th year head coach Mary Schindler, the team can bring the program's all-time win-loss record back to even for the first time since 1978.
 
UP NEXT FOR TARLETON
The TexAnns will return home to open LSC play when they take on Texas Woman's on Friday, Sept. 7 at 6 p.m. in the Wisdom Volleyball Gym.
