STEPHENVILLE – Tarleton men's basketball's road game against No. 5 Kansas on December 13 has been canceled, Kansas and Tarleton officials announced Friday evening.
As a result of a positive COVID-19 case within Tarleton's program, both schools mutually agreed it was in the best interest of the student-athletes and staff to cancel Sunday's game. The game will not be rescheduled at this time.
"We're obviously very disappointed that we aren't able be a part of the great basketball tradition at Allen Fieldhouse. Our players were so excited to compete at one of the greatest college basketball venues in the country. We're thankful that Coach (Bill) Self and the administration at the University of Kansas were gracious enough to offer us an invitation to play and we're hopeful to reschedule in the future – or maybe even this season, if schedules permit. But at the end of the day, the safety of our players, our staff, and everyone involved with our program is and has always been our number one priority," said Tarleton head coach
Billy Gillispie.
As of today, Tarleton is scheduled to play at No. 2 Baylor on Tuesday, Dec. 15 at 7 p.m. in Waco.
