WEEK AT A GLANCE: Midnight Madness returns to Tarleton, Volleyball continues conference play at home

Texan Basketball is back in Wisdom Gym when the clock strikes midnight this Thursday.

Midnight Madness tips off this Thursday to give Texan fans a sneak peek at Tarleton Men's and Women's Basketball. Texan Volleyball will also play at Wisdom Gym on Thursday as they host Stephen F. Austin. They have Friday off to prepare for hosting UT Arlington on Saturday. Everyone else hits the road this week, as Men's Golf competes in the Graeme McDowell Intercollegiate on Monday and Tuesday. Women's Golf competes those same days, but at the RE/MAX Prime Properties Bearkat Invitational. Tarleton Cross Country is back in action as they will be at the Arkansas Chile Pepper Festival on Friday. Texan Soccer will also play on Friday, as they compete in their first of four upcoming road games at New Mexico State. They will then wrap up the week on Sunday as they travel to Sam Houston.

TEXAN BASKETBALL returns to Wisdom Gym for Midnight Madness on Thursday. Doors will open at 11 p.m. for fans to come be a part of the madness. DJ Quan will be there to provide all the musical needs, along with free t-shirts while supplies last. Prior to midnight, there will be a 3 on 3 tournament. After the clock strikes midnight, the Men's and Women's Basketball teams will be introduced. The layup lines will be a little unconventional following introductions, as players getting the loudest cheers for their dunks will be entered in the dunk contest later that evening. The rest of the night will consist of a hot shot competition, the dunk contest, and conclude with a quick scrimmage between the Men's Basketball team.

TEXAN VOLLEYBALL continues conference play this week as they look to bounce back against Stephen F. Austin Thursday at 6 p.m. The Texans have had a tough start to conference games, as they have fallen 1-3 in their first games against SFA and UTRGV. Thursday will be Greek Night and a White Out with free White Out shirts to be given out while supplies last. The Texans will conclude their week on Saturday at 1 p.m. against UT Arlington. Their next games will be on the road, as they travel to Utah Tech next Thursday and Southern Utah next Saturday.

TARLETON SOCCER started their conference play at home with a 0-1-2 record. The Texans begin their first road game of four as they play at New Mexico State on Friday at 7 p.m. Then they will travel to Sam Houston on Sunday to play them at 1 p.m. Next week the Texans will head to California Baptist on Friday and conclude their four-game road trip at Grand Canyon on Sunday. Their next home game will be Friday, Oct. 21, against Seattle U for the Military Appreciation game.

TARLETON CROSS COUNRTY comes back after their week off to head to the Arkansas Chile Pepper Festival in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Competition will begin at 5 p.m. Friday evening. The Tarleton men come off an impressive performance a couple weeks ago at the Texas A&M Invitational where they placed second and Kevin Baez and Angel Contreras both finished in the top ten. The Texans' next race will not come until Oct. 15, as they head to College Station for the Arturo Barrios Invitational.

TEXAN WOMEN'S GOLF heads to Huntsville for the RE/MAX Prime Properties Bearkat Invitational at Bearkat Course. In their first competition of the fall season, the Texans took 11th at the Hobble Creek Fall Classic earlier this month. Tarleton will hit the road again next week as they head to Lakewood, Washington, to compete in the Pat Lesser Harbottle Invitational on Oct. 3-4.

TARLETON MEN'S GOLF tees off their fall season in Gadsden, Alabama, as they compete in the Graeme McDowell Intercollegiate on Monday and Tuesday. Chance Cain was named the sixth head men's golf coach in Tarleton history last January and begins his first season this fall. The Texans' next competition will be Oct. 10-11 as they head northwest to play in the Oregon State Invitational.

TEXAN FOOTBALL has a bye this week before they head to Southern Utah on Oct. 8. The Texans snapped North Alabama's 16-game win streak with a 43-28 win in Florence, Alabama, on their homecoming. Tarleton's offense was clicking on all cylinders, finishing with a season-high 586 total yards, with 316 of those yards coming from Beau Allen's arm. Allen also threw for a career-high four touchdowns. Jaden Smith could not be guarded once again, as he finished with five catches for 173 yards and two of those receptions being for touchdowns. The defense put up some numbers as well, as five different Texans recorded a sack, with Patrick Jones having one of those being a strip sack in the endzone for a safety. Bryon Broussard iced the game with an interception on the Lions' last effort.

TARLETON TENNIS had eight players receive invites to one of the top fall tournaments, the ITA Texas Regional Championship, and began the event 5-0. Their run finally ended on Saturday in the singles main draw Final 16, an exceptional accomplishment, with nearly every NCAA Division I program in Texas sending their top players. Newcomer Emma Persson had the longest singles run, advancing to the singles main draw Round of 16 Saturday before falling. In doubles, Elif Albayrak and Martha Makantasi won their main draw Round of 64 match before falling on Friday in the Round of 32. The Texans' next competition does not come until Oct. 28-29, when they travel to San Antonio to play in the UIW Cardinal Classic.
