EDINBURG, Texas – Tarleton fell 15-5 in seven innings to UTRGV in the series opener Friday night at UTRGV Stadium.
The Texans (14-9, 1-4 WAC) gave up 14 hits and made five errors as UTRGV (13-12, 4-6 WAC) filled the base paths for most of the night. 13 of the Vaqueros 15 runs scored were earned.

Hunter Day (L, 2-1) picked up the loss as he tossed 4.0 innings allowing nine runs (seven earned) while walking four.
UTRGV plated two runs in the first inning, three in the third and four in the fourth before three in back-to-back innings, the sixth and seventh, to close the game out. Tarleton's first runs did not come until the fourth inning. The Vaqueros built up a 9-1 lead in the fourth inning, but the Texans answered back with three in the top of the fifth.
Three Vaqueros totaled three hits with Roberto Gonzalez finishing with four RBI.

Cole Miears and
Trace Morrison each posted two hits and two RBI.
Devon Patel threw 2.0 innings for Tarleton, allowing three runs on three hits. He struck out three and walked two.
Ryan Jacobs threw in the seventh and allowed three runs on three hits.
