STEPHENVILLE, Texas – Texan Nation will get their first chance to see the Texans in action at home this Friday when they take on Cowley College and Collin College in a doubleheader.
 
The Texans' original home opener on Jan. 20 that was set to open their 2024 campaign was postponed due to low temperature.
 
"It's another great opportunity to compete this weekend against one of the top junior colleges in the country," said head coach Elianne Douglas-Miron. "We know from last year that Cowley is strong and has good depth. We are excited to play at home and can't wait to see all our fans out at the courts."
 
The Texans will open the home portion of their schedule when they host Cowley College at 11 a.m.  Last season saw the Texans take a 7-0 victory over Cowley in what was the home opener as well. The Purple and White will look to win their fifth straight home opener dating back to 2020.
 
The afternoon matinee will feature a matchup that was originally scheduled for Jan. 20. Following the postponement, the Cougars will head to Stephenville to take on the Texans in what will be the first meeting between the teams. The match is scheduled for a 3 p.m. start.
 
The last time the Texans were in action they swept the weekend with two wins over Conference USA teams, UTEP and New Mexico State. The Texans took a 6-1 win over UTEP and earned the 5-2 over New Mexico State the Following day.
 
Following the efforts on the weekend, the Texans swept the WAC weekly awards. Emma Persson was named the WAC Singles Player of the Week for Jan. 22-28, her fourth singles award in her career with the Texans. The doubles duo Maretha Burger and Martha Makantasi earned the WAC Doubles Players of the Week for Jan. 22-28. This marks Burger's first regular season award while dawning the Purple and White. Makantasi is no stranger to these awards earning her 12th regular season award, fifth doubles.
 
There will be not tickets for either match on Friday. Entry to both matches is free for all fans.
