MONTGOMERY, Texas – The Texans have back-to-back weeks of tournaments to start their spring season, coming off of a trip to California in the middle of this past week, now heading to Montgomery, Texas, for a Monday-Tuesday event.
Tarleton State Men's Golf will play in the Bentwater Intercollegiate, hosted by both Rice and Sam Houston, at Bentwater Yacht and Country Club. It will be a two-day, three-round tournament.
The Texans will send their same lineup from their first tournament of the spring, the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate in Palm Desert Intercollegiate.
Max Bengtsson will play at No. 1,
Cristobal Sepulveda at No. 2,
Carson Gallaher at No. 3,
Alvaro Huidobro at No. 4, and
Bladen Samaniego at No. 5.
Samaniego led the Texans this past week, thanks to an -4 (68) second round, his career-best score at Tarleton State.
The Texans played in Montgomery last season, in the Walden Invitational hosted by Sam Houston at Walden on Lake Conroe. There the Texans had two place in the top-20,
Jack Anderson tied-13th at -1 (74-68-73) and Sepulveda tied-20th at +2 (70-72-76).
The Bentwater Intercollegiate did not commence last year, last taking place in October of 2021. Sam Houston won that event at -5 (847) and their own Chad Sewell earned medalist honors at -14.
This year, there will be 14 programs in action; Rice, Sam Houston, Midland CC, Missouri State, Nicholls State, Southern Illinois, Stephen F. Austin, Tarleton State, UT Arlington, UTRGV, UTSA, Texas A&M-Commerce and Western Kentucky. Baylor, Houston and TCU will also have individuals participating.
