Texans post best outing to conclude fall slate, Ironside climbs to top-3 finish

MIDLAND, Texas – Tarleton State Men's Golf improved in every event of its fall campaign, and Monday-Tuesday was no different, as the Texans had their best outing to conclude the first-half of the season.

The Texans placed fifth as a team at -10 (854), shooting under-par each round (-1, -7, -2). Tarleton State elevated its game in every tournament this fall, going from +15 (+42) in the opener, to 11th (+21) in Idaho, 10th (+12) in Louisiana, wrapping at fifth (-10) in Midland, Texas, at Wyoming's Tall City Collegiate at Midland Country Club.

Drew Ironside posted his best tournament of the fall, shooting -7 (71-69-69) for tied-third, under-par in each of the three rounds. He only had six blemishes across the 54 holes, adding 15 birdies. Ironside's third place result was the best of his Texan career, besting his tied-ninth place finish at the All-American Intercollegiate last year.

Noah Sandlin had his best event of his first year at Tarleton State, posting a -4 third round for a -4 (71-73-68) overall score to place tied-10th. Sandlin just missed out on a clean card on Tuesday, turning in five birdies with one bogey. This was his third event as a Texan, elevating his best finish by 37 spots.

Kellen Young also finished in the top-20, taking tied-17th at -2 (72-68-74). In his best round, the second on Monday, he posted five birdies with a bogey.

Also competing for the Purple and White at the Tall City Collegiate were Nicholas Papacharalambous, Owen Prewitt and Jace Hulett, who played as an individual. Papacharalambous shot +7 (73-75-75) to take tied-49th, Prewitt also took tied-49th at +7 (76-71-76), and Hulett took tied-57th at +10 (73-76-77).
