STEPHENVILLE, Texas — Tarleton State Men's Golf had its best tournament of the young season this week. Kellen Young led the charge and shined in the final round, earning UAC Men's Golfer of the Week honors on Thursday.

Young finished tied-third shooting -6 (72-71-67) in the Argent Financial Classic, hosted by LA Tech, on Sept. 27-29. The tournament was played at Squire Creek Country Club in Choudrant, Louisiana.

Young's -5 (67) in the final round on Tuesday was flawless on the card, with five birdies and 13 pars. Across the 54 holes, he had 13 birdies, seven bogeys and 34 pars. His tied-third place on the individual leaderboard was his highest mark as a Texan, and his -5 (67) was his best round since he shot -6 (66) at Lamar's Golden Nugget Invitational last March.

As a team, the Texans took 10th at +12, coinciding with Young on Tuesday for their best round of the tournament. Tarleton State shot +11 on Sunday, +2 on Monday and -1 on Tuesday for its +12 (876). This was the Texans' best event on the year, 30 shots to par better than their opening event.
