STEPHENVILLE, Texas — Tarleton State Football keeps winning, and the Texans' have maintained their No. 3 spot in the national rankings for the seventh straight week.

The Texans are only behind North Dakota State and South Dakota State in both the Stats Perform FCS Top 25 Poll and AFCA FCS Coaches Poll, the two major FCS ranking systems, announced on Monday.

In the Stats Perform FCS Top 25 Poll, the Texans earned 1,276 points, behind North Dakota State (1,399 points) and South Dakota State (1,339 points). A first-place vote is worth 25 points, a second-place vote 24 points, all the way down to one point for a 25th-place vote.

In the AFCA FCS Coaches Poll, Tarleton State earned 578 points, with North Dakota State at 625 points and South Dakota State at 597 points. The AFCA FCS Coaches Poll is voted on by the panel chosen by random draw, conference by conference plus independents, from a pool of coaches who have indicated to the AFCA their willingness to participate. Each coach submits a Top-25 with a first-place vote worth 25 points, second-place 24, and so on down to one point for 25th.

On Saturday, Tarleton State crushed a No. 23 ranked West Georgia team 45-10 at home in front of a record-setting crowd at Memorial Stadium on Homecoming. The Texans improved to 8-0 overall and 4-0 in conference play, with eight straight wins their longest winning streak in the program's NCAA Division I era. The Texans are also alone at the top of the United Athletic Conference standings now, a game ahead of Abilene Christian (3-1).

Last week, Tarleton State Football was named No. 3 by the Division I Football Championship Committee in its initial FCS Top 10 ranking release.
